Pre-Spawn Pike - May

Went fishing this weekend and caught three pike. Two of them still had their eggs in them. Seems a little odd to me, however, i dont follow the water temp or anything like that so maybe its just the norm but I've always figured pike spawn out shortly after ice comes off. Anyone have any insight?

They likely never found suitable conditions to spawn and will absorb the eggs.

Makes sense. Guess i've probably just never paid attention - also never usually keep pike.

I also caught and cleaned one this weekend that was still full of eggs and surprised me. The water temp was way past spawning temps, so I figured her date must have stood her up.
