Or call it rentals cause all your doing is renting your property from the govt.
Stop paying those property taxes and you will find out who owns your home and it isn't you.

Property taxes should be illegal across the board.

Do you know how to get them gone? Get a majority of people in your county to boycott them. Hell get the majority of the state to boycott them. They will have to address the issue then. They cant throw every person out of their houses. That would probably start an insurrection. If you are able to get this done let me know how you do it so I can get the movement started in South Dakota.

The other thing that pisses me off is when they reassess the property and increase the value. They are literally taxing you on unrealized gains. You don't get anything out of it but the government does. The only way you get anything is if you sell and they take more when you do that also. Its all bullshit!!!

Criminal!
If it's in ND, it's not criminal. It's the current legal process. In the county I live in, they do not take possession of the property until the owner is 3 years delinquent in paying the taxes. If this girl couldn't afford they property taxes, she had ample to sell the property. It appears she lost $50,000 by doing nothing. Right or wrong, our current system is what it is.

Ok I’ll bite. There is a ton of examples, including losing a property to taxes, not truly owning your home, etc. that are valid. But I think the strategy has to be strategic and not a simple abolish them and figure it out plan. So I ask, what’s the revenue replacement strategy for elimination of property taxes? I know many of you will say to cut spending, but we’ve never seen government meaningfully cut. Realistically speaking even a 10% cut in the government is very difficult. Do we want to raise sales taxes? Or what will we use to fund our services? I ask because I feel the proposal of eliminating the tax is a non starter without SOME plan that replaces the revenue. Granted ND is in a different place than SD with the legacy fund. But I think it applies to all states that want to do this.

Flame away!

The people have spoke, loud and clear.....Tax me, you, him, her, my dog, your dog and every fuckin thing possible.

If our politicians told North Dakota residents to stick their dick in a blender, I'm confident we would have a blender shortage here.

Tax away as long as its not property. Sales tax etc has to be brought to thw people for a vote(usually, sure there is some slick poli that could gwt arround it) and its usually vited in. It also allows a person to decide if they want to pay towards the tax. Such as do i rrally need that new phone or not. This has been discussed on here many many times.

There's no FKN way this should be legal!! At most, they are due their taxes and have to give the rest to whoever's name is on the deed! Any elected official that stands behind this act of THEFT is a POS Commie!

I agree with this. Considering the extra work load on the states attorney and jails by non tax paying residents this spreads the tax out over everyone who shops in that area. Everyone pays, no exemptions!
