Caught a white bass today and when I cleaned it the whole fillets on both sides is a weird looking red?? No amount of white meat anywhere .... it was 2.2lb is it just cuz it's such a big fish?? Also I caught the fish in 68' of water... could it have to do with being so deep???

did you bleed it? whenever I keep bass for the table I bleed cut their throat and bleed them. Cleans the meat up big time. I've even started doing it with walleye and it's amazing how white the meat is when cleaning time comes.

Yea hadn't caught anything all day and started trolling deep watching my sonar and saw fish at 68 feet .... anchored with ipiolt ...dropped a 3/4oz jig and a plastic and as soon as the jig hit bottom the white bass hit! It was kinda cool cuz I was able to watch my jig go all the way down to bottom and the fish strike it on my sonar.

I've caught a few white bass in 45ft at Devil's. My guess is you're referring to the mudline. Just fillet/shave the red off and it's almost as good as walleye.

I believe you can still find 50+ on the main bay. Hard pressed to find 50 on east bay. For sure some 50+ on east devils and 70+ on stump... 80 I think in a spot or two.
