recently bought a 2013 f150 with the crome bar style running boards. I am 6' and dont need them but my wife and two kids do so they need to stay on. They are too high for me to comfortably use so I dont. I find myself hopping out and away when I get out so I dont get my pant legs dirty. This worked ok until I hopped out onto some ice and slipped and fell on my ass. They look nice but I hate them. That is all.

I'm not a fan of them either, but they do save the seat from excessive wear from jumping in and sliding out. I haven't put them on my new truck yet, but I used them on my old one. I'm 6'4 and didn't need to use them but I got use to them.

Put a pair of anthracite boards on my '14 Traverse. I too don't really need them but the wife kinda wanted them. I too wanted them however, for another reason. To save the body from road trash/debris/slush/mud. They hug up under the body nicely so I can get in and out without using them if i care to.

I don't have them on my 1500 Chevy but my 2500 dodge has them. I'm 6 2 and use them all the time in that. They do save the paint on the bottoms of the doors.

I bought an older 1994 Ford Exploder for my getting around the lake for ice fishing that had color coordinated plastic? fiberglass? running boards. First thing I did after I bought it was take off those running boards(in case I got hung up in the snow on the lake). Holy ba-jeepers! were those running boards hiding the rust!! hahaha. looks crappy but as long it gets me out and about on the lake so I don't have to run my 3/4 diesel, it is fine with me. With the lack of ice making days thus far, it appears I could have waited a month or so on that Ford Exploder purchase!!!!!
