Is there a difference for posting/hunting land in SD than in ND?

Yes it is all posted here you need permission to hunt any land that is not public. Its pretty simple. you can retrieve small game unarmed and need permission to get big game. can hunt road ditches here as long as your not on an interstate

It's my understanding that all private land in SD is closed to the public unless you have permission. Someone else want to jump in?

Correct . Except in the Black Hills . Private land must be posted there or the landowner can tell you no , otherwise anything there can be hunted if not posted .

my lady is from Aberdeen (unfortunately no family land) so I have been wondering the same question. Will try to hunt the public land down there this fall; CREP, WMA, COOP MA

I've always found it very frustrating that the ditches in ND are Posted if the land is. Seriously is this really needed? And how many people even follow that or know it's a law??

Every Hunter should know. I have no problem with ditches being posted if the land is. It helps curb dickheads from doing stupid things.

Mind you that only applies if the farmer owns the ditch. If its county then its good to go even if your within 440 of a farm. Not saying its a good idea but its allowed as are all the interstate ditches and most of the highways.

I actually think the interstates are the exception to the rule allowing you to hunt County, state and otherwise publicly owned ditches.

they all fall the same. It simply comes down to in nd if not posted every 880 or on the gates its open not all that different then RR tracks. Hell i once watched a group do a deer drive in the median between the two roads out west. Now if they busted a deer out and it got hit my a car i could see that giving a lawer a hard on!
