snow amounts on DL?

Just wondering how much snow is still on the big lake? Plan on heading up and staying at the casino this weekend. Was planning on taking my in-laws snowmobiles but they said if there isn't snow on the lake they don't want us to take them because they will overheat too fast......


Probably will mostly fish out from the casino....

i don't think snowmobiles will be needed anymore. but, that's just me.

There's still snow on all areas of the lake so you shouldn't have a heating issue on the sleds. You can drive now in a lot of the areas around the lake. But if you want to explore at all tracks or a sled are still needed.

I was just North of the casino today but I didn't get far off the trail. The snow has settled and melted quite a bit but still plenty of places to get hung up. There were only a couple other vehicles out there but I could hear one guy found some deep snow, he was rockin it about half a dozen times before he got out. I was fishing 17 FOW from 7 am till 2 couldn't get a walleye or a perch to bite but I was marking something every once in a while . Caught two more Northerns both on smelt , Water was clear, I could see to bottom. One thing I was surprised with is how much light was getting through the snow/ice , A camera would have worked good.

just where you drive on the lake, There is a lot of dirt tracking on the ice. If it stays as warm as they say in the forecast that spot will be spooky if not dangerous in the next few days. There was a lot of thawing going on there today.

i really do think you will have to be nearly blind or driving a prius with bald tires to get yourself stuck by this weekend anywhere on the main body of water... especially if it is sunny and you can see the snow contours in front of you.
