I bought one of these new hexclad hybrid frying pans and absolutely love it, like all non stick high heat is a killer. Most times i start off on medium then bring g the heat down

I have a set of stainless steel frying pans of medium to high quality that I've been using for quite a few years now (20'ish??). It's not that you can't get something stuck to them, it's that they are relatively forgiving to clean. Most of the time a person can just put in a quarter inch of water and whatever is stuck will easily come off after you boil the water for a minute or two. If you really char the pan, it takes about 30 seconds with stainless steel scrubber to clean, and if your son set off the smoke alarms by really burning the oil into the pan...you can buff it out pretty quickly with some 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper. Yep, just had to do that last week with the son home from school.

I still have a couple of cast iron skillets, but haven't used any of them in over 5 years now. Probably the best thing about them is their heft, which makes them top of the line for heat distribution.

The teflon or ceramic coated pans are nice at first, but eventually someone's going to scratch them or use too high of heat and muck it all up. I can't even count how many of them I went through in my life before I went to cast iron and heavy SS pans.

We tries stainless steel once and that didn't last long. My cast iron pans are my favorite and I use them for about everything.

I've heard cast iron can crack the glass on flat top electric stoves. True?

I’m with ya there. My gas line is right below my kitchen and will be easy to run to where I need it to. I just wasn’t going to make the jump while biden was talking about banning them

I use it on glass top all the time. The stove sucks absolute shit so when i get a new one it will be gas electric sucks

We sure like our propane cooktop , it's way faster heat but also harder to get precise temp. I'd get a smaller one though if I did it again. I bought a 5 burner that takes up a lot of room and the most we ever use is 2 burners at the same time. It's nice to know we can cook and make coffee if the power goes off.

We use cast iron on our glass top all the time as well and have yet to cause any kind of damage that any other pan would cause. Depending on what you are doing, or if your my wife that thinks spilling and slinging food product all over the stove is part of cooking we have to clean the burner areas a little more.

That's the downfall about ng/propane cook tops, the burners are harder to clean than glass tops.
