the only problem I have with this is Todd Porter is one of the the supporters of this. He and his wife are terrible people and need to be brought to earth. They think they are above everyone else. Otherwise I am in full support of a Casino located at Sterling

Yeah, I heard it on the radio this morning, some Indian lady saying the state and tribe have terrible relations right now, and that the state, and state legislator need to start repairing the damage, and building back our relations.
How does that work, that once again its the states problem?
Punch me in the face, and then tell me I need to rebuild the relationship that is broken since you punched me in the face...haha silly natives

its kind of like this johnr..... you are being held responsible for the acts of your ancestors by people who accept no responsibility for their own acts of today, or the acts of their children, or the acts of their tribe, or the acts of their sovereign nation. Your the one with a problem, and its long past time to fix it, so get busy fixing.

The SRST can suck a duck with the shit they pulled over the last year. We all know they just wanted more money, to think they give a shit about the environment is laughable, seriously laughable. That said I dont think the state should be in the gambling business. Non-profit charitable gambling at bars is fine, but opening state run casinos is over the top IMO.

I do love that's it's mainly the three affiliated tribes bitching about the loss of income from this. You know the tribe with so much oil they built their own damn refinery! If they don't have enough income from the oil they are sending down the DAPL then fuck em because that's called embezzlement at that point!

I lived in Illinois for a long time and saw first hand what state control of everything brings. You really want to add that many employees that will surely unionize to the state payroll? Sounds great until you get unaccountable bureaucrats and politicians negotiating with public unions and trying to run casinos? Should it be legal? Hell ya, but the state has no business owning it. The state should license, regulate, and tax it... but not operate it.

Well no shit. My main point is you don't want it turning in to Illinois. I never thought of ND as a liberal shit hole like Illinois, but you get the state dabbling where they shouldn't and its not to far away.

I seen on the news last night that the state would be contracting the running of the casinos. He specifically said, the employee's would not be state employee's, and that they would have a contract with whoever operated the casino.

Don't get me wrong guys, I am not for or against the state doing casinos. The only thing I would want, is to make sure they are self supporting. As I think I pay enough taxes on shit that isn't. The amount of money I would spend in one, they might as well not even start.

I say that the State of North Dakota and the Legislature should approve a bill to allow 1 private casino to any entity willing to put build it and run it. The restriction is that this casino must be along Highway 1806 between area 5 miles south of Fort Lincoln to Huff. Then give Energy Transfer Partners first dibs at it. I remember that Fox wrote a letter supporting the SRST in the early days of the protest, but he sure was quiet when all heck was breaking loose. Until DAPL Dave comes out on National News asking that she Eco Terrorist quit using Standing Rock Reservation in the protest....I say the heck with Prairie Knights Casino. We need to use social media, newspaper advertisement or just a protest with signs asking people to "BOYCOTT PRAIRIE KNIGHTS CASINO". If your wanting to go south to gamble, you might as well go to Deadwood. At least there is more to do there.

That's my .02¢!

You can't compare the two thats like apples and hand-grenades! Between the daily family and general Chicago politics and having three past governor's being in prison it's just not a remotely realistic comparison.

Might want to swap that 4 for a 6 or your going to need one hell of a ramp to jump the river.

Pretty sure that the bill is only going to get the casino approval on the next general election ballot, which will then be decided by we the people, like it should. The legislator is only approving that this will go to a general election vote.

On a separate note but somewhat related to the whole ordeal is I hope the people of ND remember come election time that the democrats supported end endorsed Chase Iron Eyes as a congressional candidate and actually thought he would be a great representation for the state of ND in Congress. This is something that I will always remember and consider when looking at the candidate the democrats put up for any election. Can not imagine what a disaster that would have been if by some sad way he had gotten elected. I myself will be pushing this fact hard on anyone I may be able to influence in future elections. I would consider voting for a DEM but it would take a hell of a person to get me to do that and their supporting Ironeyes will make me scrutinize their candidates even more in the future. Probably should be a different forum, but I will remind people anytime I can about this. As for the Casinos in ND I say yes and lets see help ourselves and see how they deal with the competition. They always say competition makes services better.

you forget we have a state owned bank and a state owned mill. all have been ran very well and very conservatively. I would have no problem with state run casino's from that standpoint.

i forgive them for that. i figure they knew they had no chance at winning and didn't want to spoil a potential up and comer. so, they just threw him to the dogs. his political career outside of indian country is officially over. its either that or they absolutely can't find anyone better. and that's sad.

If we have state owned casino, I hope they would be smoke free. I wonder how PKC could deal with it if several of their employees who are not smokers get cancer from 2nd hand smoke and have their cancer treatment paid for by Workers Comp. Hmmmmmmmm! They have a lot of employees that worked there for several years and many past employees who could probably point a finger at that.

Could they find a way to protest that? Hmmmmmmm!
