Looks great!!! The reason I asked about the floor is I spent some time in one that had a mesh floor made by a guy in Missoula Mt. I was kinda liked it. I have a seek outside tipi and it doesn't have a floor no issues yet but I would like to have the option like you do to install a floor if needed.

Are you putting legs under it or making a separate stand for it, or letting it set on the ground?
The large top is great for cooking and making coffee! Thumbs Up

well i was going to do folding legs, now im kinda leaning toward making a stand to bring with it since it is so heavy

good call - I bet there's something neat a guy could do with a separate stand you can't do with it being built in. Like some sort of boot-drying "rods" that extend out at 45 degrees upward for which to insert into wet boots for drying them or gloves - or to hang pots from, etc.

has anyone ever run a ridge pole tent and if so what did you use for a frame? im trying to come up with a design for my tent to stand it up but i have like 10 ideas i want to try just dont know what would work best frame the whole canvas? or just frame up a ridge pole through the middle and run the tie downs and stakes to bring sides out?

I've set up a few at various locations around the world with the military and can say the tents without framing were a floppy mess that loosened up as time went on. Rain and snow raised holy havoc with the tent as well due to the increased weight stretching the tie downs and canvas. I am not a fan of ridge pole tents as the structural integrity of those I used seemed to be based off the tension of the lines holding the tent up, which kept the poles of the frame together. Lost an attachment point to a ridge pole during a wind one time and the outer wall fell inward........it sucked. Course it HAD to be at night too. If it were me, I would seriously consider framing the walls. It will lessen your reliance on the tie down ropes to keep the tent off your head and the heater, which could cause the tent to flame up. Not a situation I'd like to be in while in the mountains. Hope this helps.

Full internal frame for sure which should not be bad to set up because you don't have a floor. Some wall tent companies sell the connections and you supply the conduit.

True nothing about full internal frames are cheap but not having the canvas tight really sucks.

got the stove mostly finished now finally, got it painted last night and the stove attachment welded to the top of the wood stove, and the pipe came in also so i just need to fab up a spark arrestor/ rain guard for the top and it should be ready to rock and roll! This stove is NOT in anyway shape or form a light stove it has become an almost for sure 2 person moving deal, it can be done with 1 person but its not an awesome deal, but anyway here are the rest of the pics for those of you still following along! burns hot and long which is what i was going for, so mission accomplished!

I picked up a used Cimarron last year, and absolutely love it. I spent some time in a "2" man mountainsmith mountain shelter LT last season in MT and it sucked. The Cimarron has plenty of room for two guys with gear and a stove.
