its not overreach if its the actual law and it was brought to their attention by someone else. assuming they weren't out just kicking in doors and looking for pet squirrels and coons and the report was made by a vet out of concern, do they really have a choice to not investigate and respond accordingly? if they ignored it, the vet would make a big deal out of it. change the law if you don't like it applied as it reads. its like me getting stopped for doing 5 mph over the limit and being upset i got a ticket. or blowing .082% and getting arrested for dui. or setting my blind up 5 feet on someone else's property because the cover did extend on to the stuff i had permission on. anywho... you get the point. on a slightly different topic, can you not vaccinate coons and squirrels for rabies like you can dogs and cats?

This is all true, and logical.
However NYC has a huge crime problem, illegals everywhere, drug rings, etc. But the 10 agents time, manpower, and resources that were put into a fucking squirrel is insane.

Lincoln, kinda...
So, the guy runs a non-profit animal rescue and either doesn't know the laws on wildlife, or he doesn't think the laws apply to him, now we want to take issue with the eventual outcome.

I wonder if, as a non-profit, he ever had other people around Peanut and Fred? Because, if he did and the raccoon or squirrel became rabid and infected a bunch of grade school kids, I am pretty sure that same group of people would be calling for his head. In at least one of the articles I read on this they claimed the squirrel bit someone and that was the reason it lost its head. Fred was guilty by association and also got the guillotine.

As far as NYC crime, yes...I agree. NYC is a shithole. But, I don't remember reading that it was NYPD that came for the coon and squirrel.

Didn't someone get in trouble not that long ago for bringing a pet coon into a bar in ND?

LOL, so the guy and his wife wanted a hobby farm, while others pay for it. Hilarious!
does this sound like a " hobby farm "

Mark and Daniela Longo are residents of Pine City in New York, near the state's border with Pennsylvania. Mark Longo is 34 years old and runs an animal refuge called Pā€™Nuts Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary, named after Peanut the Squirrel. A mechanical engineer by profession, Mark Longo was working in Connecticut before moving to New York to start the animal sanctuary in 2023. Since opening in April 2023, the sanctuary now houses over 300 animals, including horses, goats and alpacas.

Was Triple H Miniature Horse Rescue a " Hobby Farm " ?
