My starter battery finally gave up the ghost last fall, It was the original battery and my boat is a 2008. Got my moneys worth on that one. LB

Any preference on starting batteries? I have yet to go to a separate battery for electronics but that is probably the next thing. For now looking for a big 27 or 29 series starting battery. Recommendations?

Do you have a link for those batteries? I might be in the market for a 31 series battery for $100
Two years ago Duracell 31s at sams club were like 89 in the spring on sale. Not sure now though.

^^ 27 series dual purpose for the crank/console electronics is what I run...no issues in 2 seasons with that setup. Some days on the water 8-10 hours, but I suppose I do fire up the big motor and run around quite a bit.

About the only thing I use my big motor for is loading the boat or cooling off on a hot calm day. I fish mostly small lakes so I am fishing as soon as the boat is away from the dock. Watch weather pretty close so try not to get caught in rough water. My alumacraft came with one 29 battery but after a few years I switched to 2 29's in a row for all weekend trolling power most of the time. LB

I'm due for new batteries this year and am switching to lithium. I purchased two 12v 60 amp from amped outdoors, to run the 24 volt trolling motor. I like the fact of them being light weight, among other attributes. About half the weight of a regular battery. Also got the nifty carry bag with handle for $15 each. Should be convenient to use in the ice house too.

I picked up two Everstart Maxx group 29's with core exchange today at Walmart out the door for $230
the amp hour rating on them is 114. I went with the Maxx for $10 more they have a two year warranty instead of a oneyear.

This is the same question every year. Interstate and Wal-Mart seem to be some of the most popular vs. every year. I've never had any problems with Interstate. Don't quite get the big deal with lithium and the stupid price unless you're a guide. Even so, I've musky fished for years at 12+ hours a day and never ran our of juice with wet lead-acid. I like lithium for the weight difference such as when ice fishing, but do I really need that 1/2 MPH extra in the boat?

Iam going the same way this Saturday, just adding a 24 starter to the list. LB

Just wait until solid state batteries come out…you think lithium is expensive..those will be considered cheap!

Got into a bit of a heated debate with a friend about this recently... Of course i won, because I dont argue unless im pretty sure im right.

Lithium batteries shouldnt be stored for extended periods at full charge, especially in extreme cold conditions. He was trying to tell me that they should be stored like regular lead acid batteries, with a battery tender on them all winter! sheesh

When I rewired and upgraded a bunch of stuff on dads Lund pro sport I went with interstate 31 with 210 capacity 25 amps for $184.95 and for price comparison Duracell AGM size 31 was $214.32. My newer Lund came with Interstates back than lasted about 5 years easy. Did second set same luck another 5 years or so, I am on 3rd set now all good so far, put I don't fish that crazy as back then either. I keep them plugged in at all time's when not in use.
