You got it! Big job big money! Buy buy buy payments on every thing, that’s the In American way but to little spoiled brats don’t under stand what it takes to fix junk just to keep your junk on the water!! Best thing I ever heard from a buddy of mine that loved to fish as much as I do said ... and I quote a boat is just a hole in the water you throw money into,,, so true!! but what happens when that job you have is cut, fur load what ever they call it then what? Ahhh just let the bank come get it oh well! Start over lol there is no end to the madness we are in! You live the way you can live and that’s it!!!! Nothing we have is taken from us in the end except ourselves! It’s all material!

I understand junk very well have used plenty of it from clothes and bread sacks in my boots to boats that you were hoping every time you shut the motor off you hoped it would start. Im at a place in my life now where i can afford nicer stuff and have found that if i would have saved vs buying junk i would have been money ahead . I dont know other peoples finances and to sit on the out side and judge them seems rather odd to me.

I will add, times are different than the 1980s with 14% interest. Money is basically free to borrow these days.

Not judging! I’m pretty well off and I don’t care how much the next guy has or don’t have. I don’t go to Dick swinging contest and see who’s is better or worse.
Just saying in my opinion I called it how I saw it some things were cheaply made. It’s always nice to let the new boat buyer take the hit on a new price rather than myself. I’m betting that boat prices will eventually come down when there are a lot of used boats on the market.

lol yea I'll have to check, but I'd be shocked if my 200 yami has more than 125 hours on it.... And I agree, start high and come down if a guy has to.

I don't know what MM has against Stratos Boats, but mine has been flawless in the 5 years I've owned it. .
Nothing against them but just not worth as much as a Ranger.

Smart guy just trying to take advantage of the situation: "get while the gettin's good." Ya just never know who's/what's out there and what they're willing to pay.

When I was shopping the High high end of my range was $40K. I'm sure glad I only spent $26.5K as of last year about this time I paid if off. Still pissed on the interest but glad I did it. Had I put by money in Bitcoin instead of gold I'd have had a NEW one, paid off. Still pissed about not buying it when I very first investigated it at $50, then $500. Even last year when it was $4,000 would have been a great buy.

But when I'm camping in Mobridge I see guys with much much newer and nicer set-ups than mine. Camper is 05, boat 03, and truck 01. ALL PAID FOR!! And I have a buddy that can afford all the nicest equipment and pay cash, but I also know the banks are making BANK!! Some of these guys must be financed to the hilt!

I’m still waiting for someone to chime in as being that guy making payments on everything. Any volunteers?

I have some stuff that is paid off and some that I am ok with making payments on. Why not enjoy life the way you want if its financially available to you. Why wait until your retired years or hope you even make it to retirement age? I think its just fine to make payments if its in your budget instead of taking money out of savings just to say you have an item paid off that is eventually going to fall apart anyways. Why not make the payments now to enjoy life the way you want and instead take the extra savings or monthly income and invest it other ways. I personally would rather have the money in the bank than have an item paid off. If you do it right theres alway a way to offload the items you have on credit and if you do it right its just like renting that item.

Thread Simplified - Everything has either got more expensive or inflated since the 1970s and the curve is not changing, so deal with the prices and buy now or your boat that you want 5 years down the road is going to be 20k more than if you just buy it now or finance haha!

So that explains why there was a 20% difference from last year to this year. Last year a lot of boats that were selling for mid to low 20s are over 30, 50-60k went to 60-75, unless you have a evinrude haha.

I'll go...in 2007, I started out with a 1984 Lund with a 90 HP merc, had an older 12 volt minnkota on it. Had two young kids that liked to go along, but I didn't trust that old merc to take us too far from the ramp for fear of not getting us back. Used that boat for 10 years, it had rivets that leaked, sometimes the bilge worked, sometimes it didn't, sometimes the aerator worked...sometimes it didn't either, one time I was pulling our daughter on a tube and the steering all but locked up and had to shut it down in the middle of the lake (never did quite figure out what happened as a few hard cranks back and forth on the wheel, and it worked itself out), then there was the time had wife and both kids out and the wind/storm came up on us, boat bounced around like a tin can back to the ramp and all 4 of us had shaken baby syndrome from the ride. I'm now the proud partial owner of a '17 Ranger (I say partial because the bank still owns some of it). I am dam glad the wife let me buy that boat because there were days we have been out that there was no way I would have taken the family out in that old 84. Have also had some great times with the kids and their friends, or just the wife and I cruising around. I don't spend money at the bar, I don't spend money at the casinos, I spend as little money on clothes for my teaching job as I possible can, so that I can spend money on hunting and fishing stuff, and if I end up having to have the bank help me out, at least I am able to enjoy it with my family while they are young enough to be around and enjoy it, and I am still able to enjoy it also. As someone said, I might not live long enough to enjoy some of this if I wait until retirement. Nothing against anyone who owns better stuff or worse stuff than I have...it's how you choose to do things vs how I choose to do things...and to each his own. I have always tried to live by (and teach my kids), "yet he who is without sin cast the first stone", don't judge anyone for anything, that is not up to you. Also, I just recently came upon another quote that I have taken a liking to and that is "Comparison is the death of joy."

However...I am jealous EVERY dam time Dirty posts a picture with his dogs and a pile of pheasants...thank God its not hunting season anymore or I'm not sure I could handle it!:)
