So in a nutshell F&F says Slot limits don’t work but admits that most anglers already self limit themselves

I’ll summarize it for you guys. We don’t need any length limits, slot limits, or closed seasons on the big three. Quit yer bitchin.
In a nutshell that's their assessment

Unless it comes to tournaments, the kill rate on "small" fish is through the roof, everyone knows it, including game and fish.
Kill the tournaments, not the small fish!

The video from G&F on length limits coming from a guy or group of guys who sit in a nice cool office all summer and never get out and see what is happening on the big lakes and the river. Lots of trailers every day and lots of fish being taken. He says slot limits don't work. It wasn't to many years ago Sakakawea had a 14 inch limit nothing under. Why did they do that if it doesn't work. Anglers self limiting themselves? I bet not. Its all about money for them and they just don't care. Our fisheries will soon dry up if it continues.

I’m 46 years old and I’ve been fishing Sakakawea my entire life. I’ve also heard this sentiment my entire life. I don’t remember many if any bad years and there’s been full boat ramps forever. I would consider Sakakawea a world class walleye fishery for most of that time. I’ll go ahead and trust the fisheries biologists as they’ve done an amazing job on Sak for my 46 years.

Small fish fry up just as good as the big ones. With live scopes now no one even fucks with the small fish in tournaments. Weekend freezer fillers kill more fish than tournament fishermen any way
are you saying tournament fishermen don't fish unless they are in tournaments

Fact - Tournament fishermen keep and kill more big fish than weekend warriors.

quit crying, ND supplies the water and SD supplies the finglerlings.

Well you fuckers are doing a shitty job of suppling the water this year. We also dont rape the resource as we only keep 4 and one over 20. So you can be hogs up north.

Not with ffs sonar on every ones boat.

something must be going well with our walleye fishery, I've taken in the most teener walleyes I've ever seen in to mount this year from sakakawea and the missouri....three were over 15 pounds.

On oahe our forage is really high and with ffs more people are going out hunting the big fish. My friend had 29 fish over 28" last year just pitching at them suspended over deep water no one 5 years ago would have ever looked for a walleye.

They aren’t stocking river/oahe because there are already two many small fish in the system and they are growing slow because of it. It’s also why they don’t care if people are keeping small fish because it actually helps the system to remove some.
