"Law enforcement brought two stranded individuals to Flasher, one was a local resident and the other was a protestor. The Mandan Braves Center took in 25 protestors. A law enforcement presence was requested to clear the school at 11:15 this morning when protestors began cooking and “becoming a nuisance,” according to school officials. The protesters left the center without incident."

Yeah definitely not going in below the cliff and it's not all that much of a cliff there anyway since they are coming in along one of the draws. The pad on that side is only quarter mile off 1804 and completely visible to anyone on the west side with a pair of binoculars. One question I have is why is the grass on top of the other pipline always greener then the areas to the side?

this is why I mentioned I didn't remember what the east side was like. I suspect the grass is greener because it's different grass. hopefully they fire that bitch up tomorrow or thur.

i know the pipeline companies fly their buried pipelines summer and winter every so often and can see them from the air... it is part of a regular visual inspection process i'm sure mandated by the state...

.So there is nothing to the rumor that they are or have been boring this pipe in all along?? I was hoping the construction company got their legal rulings and went back to work under the radar to get this thing done!

I have no idea. I wouldn't rule it out. they don't necessarily have to drill on those pads I wouldn't think. what's the distance bank to bank there

Dakota access hasn't been saying much but one thing they came out and flat out said is that they will not dig till they have the easement.

Heard the casino had to stop their 'all you can eat' buffet. One hippie would take enough for the other 200 living in the lobby.

Dean, this is what confuses me about this whole deal. When we did big projects, we always had our paperwork in order. All easements, environmental studies and everything else required was done before we turned a wheel on any project. Was the easement promised but not fully in hand for the crossing? How did the construction company get in this predicament with no easement in hand?

They were granted the easement and then the Corp took it back a couple months later. Hell the Corp came out today and said they were in favor of granting the permit now but we're over ruled by a civilian under secretary appointed by Obama. I was kinda surprised they admitted that but it's probably them not willing to take the fall for a lame duck president.

All I have to say is holy eff these people are dumb. No we will not obey your laws, we don't need your help because we have the natives with us, government has no right to hinder us, threatened to harass and harm the LEO and families. Then have the balls to turn around and beg for help and expect out resources to make them a priority, eff them.
I don't want to see anyone freeze to death and if there truly are children the gaudians should be straight up pistol whipped for their negligence and shinanigans.
Just remember that water might be life but water will also kill and it kills in more ways than it gives life

According to the COE website itself, two of the three authorizations needed for the easement were made for Oahe. over 200 other water crossings were approved on this path including one upstream on the Missouri.

This hold up of the final portion of the Oahe crossing is purely political from a president who always intended to cause this stoppage. Remember his visit to Standing Rock? Archambeau sister was on Obamas council.

"As a special assistant to President Obama for Native American affairs, Gillette helped push dozens of policy initiatives into fruition during her tenure. This week, however, after six years as one of the highest-ranking Native women in the Obama administration, Gillette is moving in a new direction, having joined the law firm of Sonosky, Chambers, Sachse, Endreson & Perry as a policy advisor for tribal clients.

The intent behind it is to embolden protesters across this nation. He always intended to get the most out of a manufactured crisis he could.

Remember his roots as a community organizer for these sorts of things. This "win" undoubtedly will inspire others to follow suit protesting like we have never seen before over the next 4 years. They are already talking about moving to Flint Mi.

Right here in ND we are seeing conservatives call for actions that Constitutionally may be in quite a grey area just to deal with these dumb asses at Cannonball. We will begin to tolerate more and more infringements on our liberties because of these protests.

This is all part of a much bigger plan by those funding this from behind the scenes. Think of the outrage and ground swelling of support for the cause when Trumps appointees over rides this "win".

The CORP is walking back claims via the AP the easement was denied and now is claiming it is only under review . Seems to be a bit of a riff between them and the Obama lackies if one reads between the lines.

Not sure I would put much money on this being the plan from the start. everyone seems to forget the letter he sent to the Iowa protesters just before things started going full crazy here. he doesn't mention the pipline itself but talks about that infrastructure is needed to fill the gap between now and whenever it is that we switch to new fuels.

This would explain why Standing Rock didn't show up to the table for any discussions about the project or routing of the pipeline when they should have. They had an IN (Gillette) and knew if it didn't go in the way they wanted it, they could put a stop to it. You don't suppose when the pipeline company decided they didn't want to or couldn't afford to do business with Standing Rock, that really pissed off the whole Standing Rock money grubbing bunch that's involved in this whole scheme? The only thing they didn't take into account was the surprise election of Mr. Trump.
Interesting! And where do you suppose Heitcamp fits in this whole scheme???

Fish On!

It could be that the product flowing through the pipeline is warming up the soil faster in the spring or maybe not allowing the frost to go as deep and allowing it to thaw out first. This would let the cool season grasses get started sooner over top of the warmer pipeline than the surrounding areas. Just a theory, not fact.

It's possible but many of the trees are green so one would think if it's been warm enough long enough for them the get their leaves you would think it would have had enough time for the rest of the grass to green up as well. hell I'm not 100% sure it's a spring pic instead of a fall one.

Drifting the high plains
Some guys left big ruts in my yard a couple of years ago. I filled them with black dirt and reseeded. It must be a little different strain of Kentucky bluegrass. It's about two shades darker green than the rest of the lawn. It also greens up sooner in spring. Never had that happen before.

Yep this community organizer has been such a supporter of oil development along with coal he likely supported the DAPL pipeline from the start.

Ya suppose Heitkamp was promised support for the pet projects she champions with the natives at her meeting with Trump if she came out and tried to tone down the protests. She knows she has an uphill battle next election and if she supports Trump on his appointments in the Senate which is a closer call, my guess is she will become a "great person", a "fabulous person" that Trump "loves" that works "across the aisle" to "make America great again".

It is likely her only shot at getting re elected.
