Is it just me or is this spring messing with your head? You know it's messed up when your surprised to see snow falling instead of rain and when you see a forecast of 38 for a high and you think that's a cold day. What a weird spting.....er...I mean winter. Now looking at possibly mid 60's by Saturday we will probably be seeing real numbers of snows in feb well guys are still driving on out east.

haven't seen a white one yet dean on my drive along he river. tough to know how far they need to come I certainly wouldn't be surprised if some make it in by the wknd. avg age of those birds will be in the double digits. good luck to those who go out. gonna be a fast migration

Yeah, it's sad that our icehouse is coming off Stump this weekend for the year. What's even worse is like most years we get teased with an early spring, we'll probably get hit with snow and below normal temps in March and April.

Last I saw there were some within fifty miles of the border. Hard to say what they will do with the ice line but they have open pockets on oahe up to around Mobridge so they may vary well use that as a flyway unless these next couple days is enough to open the super shallow potholes out east.

That is what worries me as well. The law of averages usually play out. That said, I hope el nino continues to be our friend.

ha ha ha - I am SO much also a believer in this theory

it has some support in reality IMO - usually the very cold air blob over the Arctic "wanders" from side to side. I bet russia has had a cold SOB for a winter so far? it's been locked on "the other side" but will dislodge around March and settle in on our side to "punish us"

no nice spring (from winter right to summer) - all because we were enjoying a mild winter

30-40s, windy, low-rolling cumulus days - never letting up all through March-June

March can dump a lot of snow, If we don't get some kind of rain or snow we are going to be fighting fires early which is worse then a bunch of snow late that general doesn't last long.

Very true Guy! Even October blizzards! I can recall about 10 yrs ago, headed out to Dickinson area Rooster opener. That area got massively dumped on with snow a few days prior to opener. There were snapped branches/trees all over town. While we came upon a number of pheasants that were dead in the snow....we actually did well. Thumbs Up But yeah..us flat landers can get a snow storm/blizzard in most any month Oct.- May.

I bet we stay mild going into spring. The pattern seems to hold at least for now. The drawback will be next fall/winter

Yep If we follow along with what El Nino would normally be like we will stay warm and dry into the start of summer.

My ice house didn't even go out. Bought an Ice Castel about seven years ago and have had it out about seven times. Wish I had bought a larger portable instead of a $10K ice house. Next fall I may advertise it.
