Why are people so obsessed with selfies

It the entitled generation that grew up getting participation ribbons for their failures in life.

My 12 year old takes pictures of herself 100 times a day, and sends it to her buddies, who also take 100 pictures of themselves a day. when the day ends there is 1 million pictures circulated between 30 6th grade girls...haha

I tell her to quit and how stupid it is, but she continues anyway

So what is the issue that generated the original question?
Is it the “idea” itself of the selfie? Or is it more the content of the selfie?
Examples guys crappie selfie…wonderful looking fish…is this s selfie anyone would have question with?

I can't argue that selfie #3 is pretty damn nice, but ultimately all three of them (even though I like the fish one) are self serving. There is no point to them beyond the "ooo, look at me!" Just my 2 cents. I love computers and love technology but Jesus do i miss the time before them. Life was far more simple!

In many senses it's still a selfie because you're posting a pic of your selfie.
