I haven't been real great at getting out ice fishing this year mostly because of access and theres too much damn snow to start looking for sheds yet. I tinker in my garage some, but starting to go stir crazy. anyone else chomping at the bit to get outside?

This is the first winter in a LONG time that I'm ready for it to be over early. Usually I'm pretty gung ho about ice fishing so don't mind if it stretches on. But I've had such horrible luck on the ice I'm just sick of it. Give me open water, a warm summer day, and a boat.

I'm still in ice mode. I have more time in the winter, so I'm never too crazy about getting back to the spring/summer/fall rat race.

Everyone is always wishing for the next season. Slow down, drink a scotch and enjoy this slower time of year. I still have some Jumbo perch to catch!

Tip: plan a trip in February to break up the monotony. Go to the mountains if you ski or to a beach if you don't.

I prefer icefishing over summer fishing by a lot. I like winter a lot. Only thing that sucks is the daylight situation. If I had 5-6 hours to icefish, shedhunt or coyote hunt after work I would be happy.

Basically comes down to just weekend fun for the working man.

I don't mind ice fishing. I really don't. However, my hands and feet have zero circulation (we've discussed this before), so I prefer a boat and ease of fishing. Plus, the wife is happy to head to a sandbar or beach for a while and I can play some fetch with the dog.

Perpetual sept-november and i would be happy with never ending hunting of some sort. I guess snow shoeing and coyote hunting will have to get me by. Unless something really changes i wont be ice fishing again this year it sucks real bad down here

The kids non-stop BB games, coyote hunting, hard water fishing, and trapping never leaves me with enough time in the day, what's this lull time your talking about?

I use the same trick. You know, the "get busy in the bed or I go fishing." win...win.

I'm in full racist mode at this point! I've seen enough white to last me a long time bring on the black and brown. An early spring is unlikely but sure would help with the deer and the winterkill situation. For the big shed hunters be careful not to spook the deer with as precarious as their situation is at this point stress is their number one killer.

I just have found alternative winter activities. Fished less than normal this winter, have been XC skiing instead. Great workout and it gives me a reason to enjoy a fresh snowfall. Still like to fish here and there, just maximize the opportunities. Spring will come when it does!

I'm going on three out of state fishing trips this month, two on the ice and one in the boat for a total of 15 days. That makes me happy. :;:cheers

You are on the brink of a new horizon. One not-so-great. It's called "sand-in-the-diapers". Chafe has a new face.

Not everyone. In summer and fall, I'm never wishing for the next season. I'm OK with winter until December 31 then I'm done with it. I even hate skiing this time of year. The snow reminds me of winter. Slowing down and drinking alcohol doesn't work for me. Every night I drink a beer and the damn snow is still here.
