This has been so blown out of proportion its ridiculous. Typical NRA being a bully. Yeti dropped their vendor program for EVERYONE including the NRA and many many others, where these orgs buy things at a discount for fundraisers etc. The NRA took it and ran with it.

If any of you keyboard justice warriors have a yeti 45 they are going to throw away or fill with tannerite because of all this? I'll gladly purchase it from you. ;-)

You and alot of others are defending Yeti online with similar takes. Seems alot like damage control to me. Its not that every company has to be inline with NRA its the fact that they were at one time and now severed ties. If it truly was just about revamping business model, then why dont they show support to NRA in a new way? They seem unwilling to do any business and that sure sounds bad and will piss off alot of people. Yet they say its just a little misunderstanding business decision while they tote their work for wildlife and conservation. I dont know....Me thinks this really is about guns and they stepped in it deep. Good Luck.......I wont be buying diddly squat of theirs (lets be honest, all I can afford is a tumbler)

Fact is: Hunters and Fisherman, maybe over privileged frat boys, are their bread and butter. This has the potential to blow up in their face, especially with all of their competitors making similar products for more reasonable prices all the while coming out PROUDLY in support of NRA. (rtic...)

Hope to see some YETI meets Tannerite videos soon.

Good luck finding one of these videos, them yeti coolers seal up so tight and are made so durable tannerite can't even damage them. Fill it with tannerite and shoot it, its just like a dud firecracker going off little puff of smoke.

Just seems like a terrible business decision. I would think that the majority of the people buying their products are outdoorsy types.

By "outdoorsy type" do you mean guys who put their hair in a bun and attend multiple music festivals every summer?

There are a lot of coolers that are just as good if not better than yeti and are cheaper. Yeti was just VERY good at marketing. At least until recently...

if i am yeti, i sell that mofo now. maybe to someone with the money and willingness... walmart or target or amazon maybe. too many competitors that selling way cheaper. and it doesn't sound like their company or their business model will be competitive over the long haul at those extremely cheaper prices. don't have time. but, anyone know why they don't have the exclusive patent on these types of coolers? i can kind of understand the mugs. but, are the rotomolded insulation filled coolers also not "unique" enough? i don't remember seeing them on the market until yeti came along.

nevermind: this probably sums it up good enough.

the two fellas that made yteti sold a majority interest to Cortec Group Management Services LLCin 2012

My guess and guess only is someone pushed to drop ties with the NRA out of political correctness/ideologies and decided to end the promotional leg of this entirely with all orgs to try and not make it seem like they were targeting the NRA in hopes it would not bite them in the ass.

The upshot is, and people have already touched on this, the REAL customer for a Yeti is someone with a good amount of expendable income. Those same guys are often the ones who have a love of outdoors, which (we all need to face this) is very gear-heavy. Whether you fish or hunt, there is a lot of gear involved, and for a lot of us, part of the fun is collecting that gear. Not all, but a good part.

So, Yeti went to great pains to market themselves (and they did a fantastic job) to the outdoorsman. I'm sure a lot of their coolers ended up at the soccer field, but that wasn't who they were chasing.

Now, they stuck their middle finger up, to those same gear-heavy outdoorsman.

I have wanted a Yeti for a long time. Never could quite justify the price, and always thought they were a tad heavy. But of course, mine would either be in the back of a pickup, or in a boat. Neither way, am I carrying it far.

But now I lust after them no more.

My two cents.

This is a complete lie. Yeti has not dropped the vendor program for all organizations, but many wildlife organizations are beginning to drop yeti and rightly so. I will be contacting DU, Delta, Turkey Federation, RMEF to see if they will be using Yeti products going forward. I will report what I hear back.

To verify, Big Frig is owned out of SD by a local business man who is a really good dude. I got to know him over the past couple years on the sport show circuit. I have used his products for going on two years and have been very happy.

Thier in the hot seat at the worst possible time of the year but I've heard how good the products are so they should be cool. If there is a meltdown look for a liquidation of frozen assets next winter.

On a serious note it's hard to make heads or tails out of the deal but from what I read at noon Yeti has always been good contributor to non profit outdoor groups. That's all good but as a business decision before you know it what started out as a promotion turned into every Tom Dick and Harry involved in non profit groups want's a bunch of Yeti at cost to give away. There goes some profit and probably a reduction of sales. Website claims some parts are farmed out to USA firms and sent overseas then shipped back. It doesn't sound like they actually one any of the production facilities they farm it out mostly overseas. Then the 25% tariff comes along and all of a sudden sailing isn't as smooth as it used to be. Just thinking out loud but it's the only thing I can think of. I'd hate to see any company get a bad wrap , Especially one that has a past record of good performance. I don't think they are in the position to say screw you guys but I could be wrong, Maybe they just want to self destruct and go hunting and fishing before it's too late.

I had to do some research on this in order for me to believe yeti would be this foolish. Whomever at yeti thought this was a good idea should be fired regardless of where they rank in the company. All I can say is "GOOD" for the competing manufacturers of cooler type products. I hope they have people smart enough to capitalize on this MONUMENTAL mistake by yeti. I had actually held their tumbler in my hand as a Christmas present and now I'm relieved that I put it back on the shelf and went another way.

Man, this is like a liberal snowflake meltdown. Only it's happening on the right.

Whatever your view is, it really ain't that big of a deal.

the fact they didn’t list these “other organizations” and the term “outdated” makes it look like they are covering their butts.

we’d have to see specifics to understand what really happened - and I bet those specifics will be hard to come by
