270 vs. 30-06

I say .270, because I love the .270 and loathe the 30-06.

The 30-06 is the bearded lady of all .473" case-headed cartridges.

I have an exceptionally accurate 25-06 Mountain Rifle and an equally exceptional 257Wby.

Neither get the nod nearly so often as the 270. The 25-06 is also inferior to the 270, but not nearly as inferior as the 30-06.

The 308 is wonderful, after you neck the suck out of it down to .284, .264, or .243.

7.62 NATO, because sometimes that deer is watching you and reporting your movements to ISIS. Everybody knows that NATO rounds kill terrorist whitetail best. I've found that Russian-made ammo is especially lethal.

Got my buck tag this year and I am dusting off the old 308 that I bought in 72. Remm 788 with upgraded stock and a good scope. Lot of deer have been put in freezer with it and it gets one more chance in my hands.
