Very good point rooster. Btw... finally put 2 and 6 together when your wife was telling me about her day in the ice house on Tuesday after you wrote your tips thread based on her experience.

Cut in a catch cover in the passenger side floor pan and you have yourself a one man snobear. If you hate it a replacement floor pan is like $25 or so i believe.

My wife and I went and picked up our new ranger last weekend as well. It is a 2016 Ranger Crew 900 and we added the full cab with heater, tracks, winch and snow plow. I've put a little over 50 miles on it now and need to adjust the tension on the tracks before I head back out this weekend. I mounted my HDS 8 inside for GPS mapping and I also have a digger auger carrier I'm getting ready to mount on the side of the bed. It is awesome and I'm not sure I can ever go back to running an ATV on the ice and freezing.

Sweet rig! I first mounted my digger carrier on the box side as well, but I decided it felt to wobbly. I was worried that cruzing across winni at 30 below might cause the box side to crack and the tracks might cover the auger with slush and snow. So, I mounted it up front.

Yeah once I get it mounted and run it a couple different weekends i'll get a feel on whether I like it or not. There is always the possibility of moving it but my first choice is definitely on the side of the box. Nice ride you have too!

What would a unit like the one pictured above w/tracks cost, ballpark? 20?

If you can find the 4 seater with full hard cab and tracks like the one in the picture for anything even close to 20k let me know, I'll buy one too, maybe he'll give us a group discount. Checked one out at a local place last year that they were accessorizing for the buyer, was decked out similar to that, not sure on all the options but it he got if for 33k. Not sure what they cost now, after I saw that I stopped shopping. That and the fact the dam things take up more garage space than a full size crew cab truck.

Dam it'd be nice to have one... might have to start shopping again

That must have been a RZR 4 for 33k.

The most i have ever spent on a vehicle is 10 grand. Spending that much on an atv is unreal to me.

If you were a farmer in the good stretch it was a neat and fun tax deduction. You were almost making money buying one.:;:

I'd put a pic of mine in here but haven't the slightest clue how to do it. Anyways, I have the full hard cab, heater, horn/turn signal kit, mirror and bed mat. I do not have tracks, light bar, winch, radio, plow etc. With tax mine was about $24250. Tracks would have added about $4,000.

It really comes down to what you can get the machine for because if you option it out they are going to cost as much as the machine itself. MSRP of a new 900 ranger crew is $16,400 so I'll break down the options along with the cost of each. LX cab system was $5800, tracks are $5000 after you add the mounting kit, heater kit is $800, 4500lb winch is $750, and the plow with mounts and extension to use it with tracks is another $1650 or so. None of those prices include installation either so you can factor that into your price as well. Yes it was spendy but we only live once.

I went this route, but with Mattracks. A good Tracker/Sidekick will run you $2-3K and is much more comfortable to ride in. Someday,I'll have a loaded SxS with heated cab and tracks, but for the price the route I've gone is tough to beat.

Those Rangers with cabs, heaters, tracks, and light bars sure are a thing of beauty! Maybe someday I'll be able to get one! My only question is, if you get stuck in the middle of a lake, what are you going to hook the winch too?

A guy can drive spikes or strong anchors in the ice and hook up winch and away you go.

I know right, ha ha.

I'll stick to my 91 Toyota 4x4 4 cyl 5 spd with topper, have about $2500 into it. Heck it even has an extended cab with heat and I can drive it to Utah elk hunting if I want! Gets around on the lakes just fine as well the majority of the time in the winter.
And the couple times it won't I just hop in with one of these guys! ;)

My only question is this: are you paying cash or are you paying interest on the money you borrowed from the bank?

Actually, considering the low interest environment we have been in for quite some time, it would make sense to use the banks money if the interest rate is low enough. Some dealer incentive may actually have 0%. Pretty hard to argue with that if a person was in the shopping mode anyway.
