Be advised: Whenever you see A-10s in DS/DS footage know I was armed at the main gate from 1800 to 0600 with a M12 stoked with buckshot and slugs. It was cool even though it sucked. You get ZERO lip from ANYONE when you approach toting a 12ga. Others used to get asked in my absence: "Where is nice SP with shotgun?" Rifles, pistols and machine guns evoked no fear/respect.

My lord I wish I could've kept that gun. The LA Air Guard (all civilian cops) brought along a half dozen or so and attached to us. I remember they were "impressed" a punk my age knew how to fully operate an antiquated M12. I was given the green light to heel with a pistol and shotgun which was sort of "Wild West" at the time. It was like checking ID's with great tits and an open blouse.

As I said: It was cool as it sucked.
