    Prediction - First Ice

Gave Coal Lake, by Underwood, a visit this morning. Found 4-6" of ice throughout and pretty clear for the most part. Pulled two walleye through the ice and two more got off at the hole. First one would have been a keeper, the rest were 10-13". Nothing spectacular, but always nice to catch some fish.

    Prediction - First Ice

I didn't know they were putting canal water in there, but my goodness is it crazy how much lower the lake is again this year. I usually fish off the island tip, just to the SE of it or around the corner. Pulled some nice walleye from the lake a couple years ago, not much since then.

    Prediction - First Ice

Hit Davis WPA over the weekend and fished it pretty hard. Barely marked a fish. Not sure whats happened there but two years ago it was a go to lake to get my kids on some fish. Ice was 6-7". Also hit Lake Holmes. It's pretty easy to find small perch there, in fact there's probably too many...

    Prediction - First Ice

Despite the warm temps last week i'm finding the ice is still growing. 6" of good ice everywhere i've been. Still not getting dialed into anything nice or consistent.

    Prediction - First Ice

I'll be doing some recon as well with the hope of finding some good fishing. In fact I took all of next week off so I best be fishing like every other day..... says me, not the wife :)

    Darling walleyes and pike

I was on the ice yesterday afternoon at Crimmins WPA. 3-4" thick, but as I worked my way out into the bigger portions of the lake the ice got very sketchy. Hate to see what this warm weather does.

    Prediction - First Ice

Found 3-4" on a couple small lakes between McClusky and Drake. This warming trend scares and disappoints me :/ I am happy for the deer hunters to get some nice weather though!

You bet your balls they will! I'm going out tomorrow morning to do some prospecting on some small lakes in Sheridan county and again hopefully Sunday.

    Prediction - First Ice

Yeah so I wrote that message after driving home on Sunday.... leave for work early Monday morning in the dark and by the time I came home yesterday afternoon every lake I drove by was fully iced over. Hoping to get some fishing in this weekend.

    Prediction - First Ice

I've drove from Williston to Dickinson to Bismarck to Turtle Lake and haven't seen a single lake froze over. Hopefully soon though!

Looking to upgrade to a electric ice auger, brand and size auger?

I'll be going with a K-drill once the ice is too thick for my hand auger. Ion is respectable, but I like the idea of having a nice Milwaukee drill to use around the house for projects whereas an ION will be useless to me all summer long.

Lowrance or Humminbird for ice fishing

I was looking at picking up an ICE-45..... then looked at the ICE HELIX 5 and figured that would also be slick in my kayak.... not sure what to do.

    Prediction - First Ice

It's about all I have to look forward too with no deer tag. Bring on the freeze, please :)

    Tip up box

If it's that windy and cold I just don't fish tip ups. Not worth the hassle for me. I'm also usually not fishing all day like I want to be. 3 kids, 3 dogs, and a wife don't approve much of it.
