ya, KW went to college, you can tell. English degree is finally paying off. "Dick move" is something you'll never learn in tech school.

I don't get it? Are you saying his description is good, or low tech.

I'm making fun of Kentucky Windage and college degrees. (I know a thing or two about worthless degrees. Tech school is the way to go. I happen to know KW doesn't have an English degree, I'm just funnin'.)

First off, I hunt public land been doing it for o S**t 40 years wow ok now the story, Last weekend packed up my stand headed 3/4 mile into the jungle and it is a jungle this year wind was wrong for that spot but the wind was going to change and put it up and left it for a Saturday night when the wind was right. I get there at 2:00 and sit until 415 at that time about a hour before dark I like to stand up easier to move without make noise. doe walks by about 430 up wind I'm think great buck soon to follow. Then at 445 I heard noise that damn near scares you because it so loud here comes Joe blow bowhunter crashing through the woods to get to his stand which I notice is 75 yards away from me. Its only 30 min before dark I'm thinking WTF really!!!! so I wait until dark move out off the stand leave. On Thursday with the wind, do me some still hunting I go to a area that requires you to park your vehicle and walk in the narley, ugly, thick jungle. I still hunt in about 1/2 mile find a good tree to stand behind with crossing game trails its 3pm so I hang there for 1 1/2 hour . I was looking up wind and I think I see a set of horns moving around in the grass and trees sure enough I see a deer head attached to the horns so I bring up the gun and do one of those ok there is the horns the body should be right about there and the deer disappears into the jungle. so I just hang there wondering if that deer was bedded there. I wait for 1/2 hour before dark thinking im going to work my way to that area incase he is bedded there. when I start to work my way back I get into the area where this deer was looked over and the deer is coming down the trail at me 35 yard away doesn't see me he stops I shoot he runs by me at 15 ft and piles up. I get him gutted out then the fun starts. its 5pm and I got 1/2 mile to drag him out, did I say this is the jungle S**t at 7pm I get back to my truck WOW. but you know it was all worth it. When I get him hung up I'm looking at him thinking man you look big for a deer that is only maybe 2 years old so I take a look at the teeth which he barely has all of his teeth are worn to the gum line. buddy of mine has jaw sets from deer 2 to 9 years age (did taxidermy for a lot of years) we guess this deers age at 7. Sometimes its not how big the horns are its how we get them that matters.

Wildeyes, you need yourself a backpack!! Quarter the critter on the spot, stuff it in game bags, stuff them in a pack and walk it out. You'da been back to the truck at least an hour sooner and had a far lower risk of Cardiac Arrest.

Wildeyes, good on you! I find the people that put in the most effort often get the most out.

The public land we hunt is a pretty popular spot, but other than a scant few bowhunters who actually walk all the way in, nobody goes that far. Mostly because they know whatever they kill needs to be dragged back out.

I enjoy going in where nobody else dares, then piling up deer like cordwood. Been hunting the same spot in the same woods for 14 years and it's amazing how deer keep doing the same thing, year after year. There are trails in there that have been traveled for generations (you can tell by how deep they go in the forest floor).

I agree with you on that one, I get into the ugly stuff just for the reason of stupid people. you are right about the trails generations of deer on those trails.
