Yea vhc gives its money to local causes and isn’t a tournament for anglers it is a fund raiser. It is a donation ran by volunteers like dwc and gov cup with a chance to wiin cash for fishing. AIM says it is for anglers yet it doesn’t show in the payout but whatever it is what it is.

i don’t understand? I just proved the payouts are the exact same? 75% back to winnings in both and the Gov Cup and DWC are the same. It’s all about boat numbers. DWC, Gov Cup and VHC all have what? 180-250 boats? It’s proportional.

I think the cost of paying for the venues is being missed, also the money for nationals is coming from somewhere. Have you guys noticed that there has been food available at the rules meetings? I would rather fish these tourneys with these teams for less money than fish the other tourneys. Mainly for the facts of no boundaries and again sportsmanship. I can tell you with the other tourneys I have been able to walk out of my boat and into another more times than I care to keep track of. I wont complain that there are guys that team up or if they are guides that can cover more water, or if someone has better equipment than I do. What about a guy that is a teacher and has everyday to go fish?

Great series! Competition doesn't get any better. Most guys in this series just love to fish and to talk about fishing. This series only makes you a better fisherman in the end. There is no other tournament series in North Dakota that allows you to compete over a whole season, fish different bodies of water, and shows who the guys are that get lucky one weekend vs. the guys who put in their time and make the right decisions to make a great season! I hope the numbers get bigger so that the AIM circuit sticks around.

In the past 2 years we have only been able to make it to 1 event a year, but this schedule might allow us to do 3 of the 4. As stated above the competition is top notch at these event and the crr format is awesome. I guess I am not as concerned about the percentage of payout, would just like to see more teams join the fun. The great thing about this circuit is the marketing they do for the anglers. It is a grass roots way for a fisherman to get started on a tournament trail.

First off, I have only fished one AIM event. I did like the format and how well run the tournament was. I agree about the poor payout and lack of boundaries, and have not decided if I will fish more this year. Aim does a greet job of marketing the series and the anglers. It would be good for guys looking to further sponsorships and things. The thing I am wondering is what does it take to fish a bigger "series". I was under the assumption that if you pay your entry fee, you can fish whatever circuit as a pro if you choose. I know sponsorships can help pay the entry fees and things, but most of the "pro-staff" deals I know of or have heard of just give the anglers discounts on products. I know there are probably some paying sponsors, but overall I think most are just discounted boats , engines, rods, tackle ect.... Just wondering what some sponsors offer people, and why some think it is so important to promote products just to get a discount on something that ends up costing them alot of money. Maybe I am way wrong, I don't know.

That’s been established since post 14. Local charity tournaments like the dwc and governors cup and vhc all are for charity ran by volunteers. All I am saying as I said in my survey last year at the end of the AIM season is I would like to see more given back to the anglers 10% goes to gnf I know that and they are keeping 15, for 15% I expected more like NWT beings they have plenty of sponsors better payouts or prizes. We fished 3 events last year and had a wedding so we couldn’t fish the championship. Don’t think I am cutting the aim down it is a great series as I have said in every post over the last two years about it. I just expected a bit more from them versus a charity tournament beings it is set up for anglers, but I realized it’s more for the guy who wants to get sponsored or nationally recognized. I’m not saying it is bad just thought it was going to be more of a payout with all the sponsorship they have.

Sweeney, I think your making excuses not to come up to sweet briars big brother;)

Driven, you are right about pay the entry and go fish. From what I see a guy would need a pretty good amount of disposable income to play on these bigger levels. Also believe the discounts for pro staff allows them to upgrade and stay eligible for contingency money. Some of the contingency money requires an angler to be running next to new product. I am sure there are a few on the payroll, but the ones making a living fishing are using product discounts, marketing themselves, pushing product, and speaking of appearance arrangements. Or some just take 4 week long vacations per year and do the circuit with a chance at a bigger payday per event.

i see what you’re saying. I think the issue is there just isn’t much money left. Based on 60 entry’s per tourney which is about what we had last year, they are making about 13k. Once you pay your tourney directors for their time, hotels, mileage, tournament trailers, rulers etc etc., I just don’t think there is much left. I think the NWT and MWC have been established longer and just have bigger sponsors so they can do a bit more.

Velveeta.... minus the ET
So what your saying is 8,000 isn't enough of a pay out if you win first place? Paying an entry fee for having the odds of winning 8 grand is pretty good compared to the lottery.... odds of 100 to 1 are pretty good with these tournaments. If anything just fish and have a good time and if you place in the top just look at it as a bonus to your good time with friends or family on the water... tournaments are supposed to be fun and if you don't agree then don't enter

Hello North Dakota

Thought I would give you a update on the first 2 weeks of the registration. Currently the registrations are running 22% better than last year at the same time. That is a great increase so lets keep it going.

I do want to take a moment to address some of the questions on this thread. There good questions and deserve a answer. There is a cost to do business and across the board, most events know what that is. AIM is no exception, but I think there may be some confusion on the over all picture.

As for sponsor dollars going into the pot. Last season through 3 states and the National championship, AIM funneled over $75,000 of sponsor dollars into the payouts. You would not see them at qualifying events, you did see them at state championships and National Championships.

As for the comment, these events are only set up for the guys that want to move up the ladder to fish for a living, (you know, that's what they meant.#$%^&>
That is the truth, they are set up for them.

They are also set up for the angler who has never fished an event in their life. They are set up for the angler who loves competition and wants a level playing field. This series was set up "By Fisherman, For Fisherman" in Every aspect. These events are run professionally so every angler can have the feeling of the big time. Just because you have a regular job you really want to keep does not mean you cant expect a professionally run circuit. They take place on sunday so if the BOSS has you working on Friday you can still pre-fish Saturday for 12 hrs and be competitive.

My name is Denny Fox and I am the National Tournament director for AIM. I have fished tournaments at all levels for 25 years. If you have any questions regarding AIM and prefer to talk to me, feel free to call at 920-505-0122

Thank You North Dakota

Hello North Dakota

A update on registrations for the first event scheduled for Graner Bottom on the Missouri River south of Bismarck on April 29th, just about 40 days away. We are currently in the mid 20's for teams entered. Time to get registered. Go to aim fishing.com and do it now.

Thank You North Dakota

kinda surprised with all the complaining about payouts nobody has mentioned the Big muddy. I'd love to see what the actual payouts are for that.
