The British should spend more time and energy figuring out the tooth brush instead of worrying about distracted driving, considering they drive on the wrong side of the road all the time anyway. ;)

I test drove a new Toyota recently. It was a nice ride, right up until I wanted to try and figure out the infotainment system. All I wanted to do was switch it over to FM radio and it had me cursing Toyota right up until I turned around at the Menoken exit on I-94.

I may have been distracted by the sight of not one, but two clear drug busts going on within 3 miles of each other on I-94, but I did give the salesman an honest review of the infotainment complexity. His response "they're pushing people to tie their phone into the radio". Last time I checked, we weren't supposed to be playing with our phones while driving. I also refuse to purchase a SiriusXM subscription.

better off waiting a few years for FSD anyway, then you can sleep while your car drives you to your destination

They'll then charge you a fee every month to use the radio.

They are definitely pushing the Sirius radio stuff. I imagine they get a kickback from Sirius for every subscription to a Toyota vehicle.

Toyota and some other manufacturers already charge you an annual fee to use their app for their vehicles. I know the Toyota basic plan for an app is $80/year. Seems cheap, right? But, when I realize I will only use the app to remote start the vehicle, in 10 years I will have paid $800 for the ability to start the car in the winter. What's a mid-range auto-starter cost nowadays, $500-600?

My 2021 F250 has an app called Ford Pass. It's ok, I can check DEF, fuel level, oil life, tires, locate the truck via GPS, and remote start it for free as Ford doesn't charge me for the app. Unless I'm on a remote lake with no cell reception, then you're wishing you had an auto-starter.

Sirius/XM is the cat's ass on road trips and during election years. Zero ads about this candidate pumped the neighbors cat/did not/did too blah blah blah. Right before the free trial is over, call them and tell them to shut it off and they give it to you DIRT cheap for a year. Then repeat every year. We have two vehicles on it for the price of one right now. Gotta call in June and tell them to shut them both off.
