My mom's friend posted this on Facebook. It happened yesterday. I redacted names.

I really struggled about sharing this incident on Facebook, but tonight felt compelled to do so.
My granddaughter was nearly abducted today while we were sitting in a waiting room at St Alexius hospital...in clear daylight...and in front of several witnesses.
I am still reeling from this incident and in utter disbelief that this could happen here in Bismarck. My nephew was sitting next to me while my brother was registering for an appointment.
I was playing with **** when the lady sitting on the other side of my nephew stood up and took ****'s hand & started walking away from me. She was as normal looking as any young woman in her mid 30s.
I got up and tried to take **** away, but the lady grabbed her to her chest & kept walking away shouting that I was trying to steal her baby.
I asked the person at the desk to call security while I was grabbing ahold of ***** in an attempt to break the lady's hold on her. She kept yelling that I was trying to steal her baby.
People were looking at us, but no one offered to help...no one called for the police and my phone was in my purse back on my chair.
I finally tore **** from the lady and grabbed the lady by the arm and convinced a St Alexius employee that the baby was with me and to please call for help.
My nephew confirmed that **** was ours and a St Alexius employee finally called security. The lady was able to break away from me and exited the hospital. I ran after her and found security guards outside. I directed them to the lady. She was still claiming that I stole her baby.
Once police arrived, we were finally taken seriously. The lady was arrested, I was questioned 4 times. by 4 different people. When finished, the officer asked if I wanted to press charges???? REALLY!!!! Isn't child abduction a crime?
I was told the police have the hospital tapes, so the incident was recorded. At any rate, **** is doing well. I am not.
I cannot believe that people just sat there and did nothing while **** was reaching for me and crying for me to take her from this lady. I also cannot believe that a normal morning could turn in to my worst nightmare.
My family and I are so grateful we still have **** . However, I am so disappointed in the lack of concern & willingness of people to help when help is obviously needed.
Please hold on to your babies...no matter where you are. Do not rely on others to help...defend your right to use force if warranted...I had to.
