Battery powered chainsaw

Does anyone use a 16-18'' battery powered chainsaw ? Want a 16'' that I'll be using strictly for yard cleanup so a cheap one will do . Just wondering how long battery lasts in some of them.

I have the Dewalt 20V. I use it 3 times a year and it's wonderful to be able to just slap in a battery and chop whatever you're after. Never used it long enough to kill the battery.

If you're going at it constantly the batteries last 30-45 minutes I'd say.

I have the milwaukee 18 inch chainsaw and a smaller el cheapo black and decker. Both work great but the milwaukee gets my vote. I use it to cut trees while fixing fence. Love just hitting the trigger and your cutting, no more fighting to get the gas saw running and warmed up. No ear protection needed either. I have cut up a huge cottonwood that was laying on a fence that I should have gotten the gas stihl to cut up. I have a 12 amp, a 9 amp, and another bigger battery. I overheated one of those cutting that big tree. but that tree was so big I had to cut one side first, then go to the other side and cut down again as my 18 inch bar would only go half ways across.

The little black and decker works good to, just a smaller saw, good for notching corner posts to build braces, or cut up smaller trees. Spins a little slower than the milwaukee but cuts good with a sharp chain. Bar oil reservoir is a bit small on the black and decker.

I am pro electric chainsaw. Not having to deal with carbs, fuel mixtures, etc. is very nice! BUT - the smell of two stroke and ritual of starting/maintaining a gasser is a rite of passage and is very satisfying, both the scent and sound can't be beat.

I agree , I have 3 good running gassers on the shelf but I'm nursing a buggered up right shoulder. I can do just about anything and not even notice it but when I yank the rope on a chainsaw for some reason that makes it flare up again. I bought a 6 or 8'' mini chainsaw and I sure like that little guy for small jobs.

Milwaukee works ok for me, wouldn't want to cut down a 50 year old cottonwood with it but for smaller trees and branches it works fine.

I bought a Milwaukee kit that came with a pole chain saw, hedge trimmer, blower, weed eater. everything works great for small jobs. I have used the pole saw for trimming branches up to 3-4 inches without a problem.

I have the Milwaukee M18 16" chainsaw. Honestly wouldn't recommend it unless your just cutting small trees or branches. The chain oil reservoir has leaked from day one, and you overheat batteries after like 3 cuts on a decent size tree. I have 4 batteries and even cycling through them I have to stop for a while to let them all cool down.
