I see they eat wasps and flies. I would take a whole flock of them with how bad the bugs have been this year. Anything that kills wasps is my friend

I don't mind em being around and would even put up a birdhouse for them. Stupid fers wanna nest in my gate rope though.

Eastern Kingbird. Depending on how many times you go through, just set it aside and put it back when you close the gate.
I'm impressed for whatever that's worth! I became a bird nerd after getting stationed up here.

Not real good on all the sparrows. Can never remember the name of the blue/yellow mottled bird which likes open prairie habitat--not a meadowlark. It has a body shape similar to a junco.

You fellows may like the app MERLIN. You can take a picture, or turn on the microphone and by sound it will identify every bird singing in your back yard, and show you a picture. The app is free.

Both Eastern and Western are fearless!! They will put the smack down on just about any bird out there. Except I've seen it backfire.

Watched a Western start a fight with an American Kestrel only to end up as supper.

They are fierce, I'll give them that.

Damn. My grandparents had a home on lake Audubon.
Spent a few summers there mid 70s. Had free reigns with a wrist rocket/pellet gun.
I was indescribative as a kid and and shot plenty of them.

Yep!! If I'd have known then what I know now, I'd have given myself a crotch shot for whacking beneficial and harmless feathered friends. Dumb Kid!!!
