We can use this entry to keep tabs on the ramps in the Bismarck area. ND GnF sent out an announcement yesterday regarding the USACE cutting flows. River is supposed to drop 2 feet, and with the post-flood river channel/bed the expect the majority of ramps in town to be unusable. I have not heard of any difficulties yet. The corps timing is impeccable.

2ft the interstate ramp should be fine. Navigating the channel may leave little room for error but be do able. Fishing wise I imagine this will either keep the fish in the lake or push them into some of the deeper holes which may make for some exellent fishing.

Yup, it's happening. Just looked at the ACoE website and already down to 14,000CFS release; down from 21,000CFS. River gauge already shows a 1.5' drop overnight. I guess the ACoE can't wait to keep water in the reservoir? Strange, since they have a penchant for draining these monsters so the barges can maintain 'economic buoyancy' in Missouri until November. :::

Are there any published reasons why the corps is doing this? I'm not aware of any flooding concerns downstream and Sak has plenty of water...Dam maintenance downstream?

I can confirm last night the water was down about a foot or more. Translation: Beach is about 15 or 20 muddy feet wider than last Friday.

I'm still eating fish though, make of that what you will...

You had a chance to swing by the local grocer and purchase some delectable walleye fillets for $17.99/lb?

I would guess an average nonishmael's boss type of fisherman would bring home around 50 or so pounds of walleye on a typical year. When you compound your fuel expense, boat, pickup, bait, repairs, beer, gear, travel, etc. That 50 lbs a season is costing you about $1,000,000 a pound....haha

Yes, I did. I stood back about 5 feet and had him toss them to me. I "caught" them. I'm a poor fisherman, but not a liar.

Regarding the true cost of walleyes (I never did say I caught WALLEYES by the way, although that is what I cut up last night), I don't wanna know. Nor does my wife wanna know.

I'd rather fish for them. I like my walleye fillets to be exponentially high in price.

If I would factor in the price of a lightning rod on my head last night, and the potential for an emergency room visit (or burial), it would have been cheaper to just pay the $35.98 (17.99 X ~2 lbs of fillets).

She's really dropping. There is a dock/boat on the north side of the Grant Marsh bridge (interstate) on the Bismarck side. The dock is a floating type dock and appears to be sitting on the river bottom. The boat is tethered at the end of the dock and has to close to being beached. Effing USCOE.

Was hoping to get out on the river through misty waters marina on Sunday one last time. I may have to do a lake run instead I guess.

Fox Island would have the depth to launch. The issue is a guy would more than likely run out of ramp.

Anyone with access to a small boat that you could carry and put the 10 horse on could have the whole river to them selves.
