If a cafe is more your thing,, doesnt get better than little cottage.. very reasonable prices and good food ,, one of my favorites

All depends on what you are seeking, but here's a few that I have been to over the last few years.

Expensive/upscale and not often on my list of places to visit:
Bistro
Pirogue Grill
East 40 Steak and Seafood
Broadway Bar and Grill (I went to the Broadway Bar and Grill a couple weeks ago and had the grouper. It was pretty darn good!)

Pizza:
Fireflour

Standard steak and burger places:
Texas Roadhouse
Longhorn

Unique atmosphere:
Laughing Sun brewery (throw an axe or two while there)
Stonehome Brewery
Kobe Steakhouse

Stupidly loud even with 10 people in the place:
Blarney Stone

Mexican:
La Carreta

BBQ:
Famous Daves (my kids love the place)
also Laughing Sun

Beer and a burger joints:
Tumbleweed in Lincoln
DJs Bar and Grill in Lincoln
Station West in Mandan...great place


There are others, but for whatever reason I just don't go to them often enough to pigeon-hole them on the above list.

Roadhouse and longhorn are not even good enough to wipe the ass of the steers that caress the plates at Jacks. Not even a comparison between the three

I do like A&B, but Brunos taco pizza is lightyears ahead of A&B's.

I just ate at A&B on Saturday. We had 4 different pizzas. All except one were great. The taco pizza is the worst. Covered with way too much lettuce the sauce soaked into the crust making it difficult to cut and eat. the cheese reminds me of velveeta. Bruno's is far better. Not even close.

the Marauder pizza at Bruno's is the best in Bismarck. I'm also a fan of:

I guess that just goes to show we all have different experiences. I went years without going back to Jacks after a couple of bad experiences around 12-15 years ago. However, I've eaten there a few times over the past year and they've been solid, but I don't know that I'd put them on the same level as Texas Roadhouse, where I've not yet had a bad steak.

Not a fan of the weird butter Texas Roadhouse sends out with the bread though.

Taqueria El Guero in Mandan (connected to the Arco station on the strip just east of McDonald's) is probably my favorite burrito/enchilada in town. No frills obviously but very tasty. They were closed much of the winter as I think the owners went south but I think they are open again.

I believe the Cali Burrito in Bismarck is an offshoot of that operation.

La Enchilada, on south 12th is dynamite for tacos. El pescado (fish) is excellent, as is La Lengua (beef tongue). They make their own dippin' chips, fresh all day long. They have a full bar, and in the summer, you can eat outside. a little short on ambiance, but the food is hot and fresh and terrific.

I also vote for Sickies burgers, and it's hard to beat the lunch buffet at India Clay Oven - especially for a Norwegian who doesn't know anything about Indian food.

Chic fil an and Culver’s is what I eat in Bismarck. I don’t mind taking the kids to space aliens because I think the food is good.

I could spend all day at Scheels and Dakota Tackle!

If you like Mexican food, I think La Caretta is pretty dang good

Eat Thai is another hidden gem. Place is super small inside, but they have a great website for ordering takeout.

I always forget about the Walrus too. I would put the pepperoni pizza at the Lodge ahead of A&B anymore.

Not sure how 40 made the list. The food there is terrible.

Ole 10 tavarn Mandan, Sickeys Garage, JL beers, Laughing Sun Brewery, Bismarcks ALe works, Gideons Brewing CO good craft beers all and basic foods. Other post ^^^ above if want fine dine
