At one time, for me, it was the two bars on Mandan stripe. Entertainment was great but i think it may be gone now. Beer i am sure is still good for a meal. db

3 lbs of cheese curds from Culver's and a ice cold case of beer from Walmart. That way you don't have any need to drive into Bismarck

Jacks Steak House on south 12th has the best steak/prime ribs in town! Service is a bar above as well. Drinks are reasonably priced and usually have a special going.
- Laughing Sun for craft beer
- Oahu for Sushi by the Gateway Mall
- Charras and Tequila for Mexican
- Blarney Stone or Peacock Alley for pretty much anything else
- Bistro or Priogue for fancy feasts

Charras and Tequila is good in that category as well.

Broadway Grille
Toasted Frog
Blarney Stone
Bistro
40 Steak and Seafood
Pirogue as mentioned before all have very good food.
Broadway is the only one of these I haven't been to. All are solid. Blarney is probably the most in the bar/food category (has a bunch of TVs), others are more restaurants that serve alcohol. Lucky 13s is similar to that as well and is solid.

Charras and Tequila is great. The Stadium/Lodge has great food...locals hangout.

Sickie's Garage has good burgers and wings.

The new Tavern Bar and Grill did not impress me.

Lincoln, kinda...
All depends on what you are seeking, but here's a few that I have been to over the last few years.

Expensive/upscale and not often on my list of places to visit:
Bistro
Pirogue Grill
East 40 Steak and Seafood
Broadway Bar and Grill (I went to the Broadway Bar and Grill a couple weeks ago and had the grouper. It was pretty darn good!)

Pizza:
Fireflour

Standard steak and burger places:
Texas Roadhouse
Longhorn

Unique atmosphere:
Laughing Sun brewery (throw an axe or two while there)
Stonehome Brewery
Kobe Steakhouse

Stupidly loud even with 10 people in the place:
Blarney Stone

Mexican:
La Carreta

BBQ:
Famous Daves (my kids love the place)
also Laughing Sun

Beer and a burger joints:
Tumbleweed in Lincoln
DJs Bar and Grill in Lincoln
Station West in Mandan...great place

There are others, but for whatever reason I just don't go to them often enough to pigeon-hole them on the above list.

I would consider Bistro the best all around consistent restaurant. You don't need to be fancy either, their bar burger is the best burger in town.

Another "fancy" restaurant that hasn't come up yet is Butterhorn which has been excellent the few times I've been. The gal is a legit trained chef that was on one of the chef TV shows.

I think pretty much everything else has been covered, although I would vote Charras over La Carretta for Mexican

The Longhorn up by Gateway is my go to place. Good food, good service and excellent prices. One of the few places in town that will actually make you burger medium rare if you want it that way. Lots of places in town must use some skanky beef because they refuse to serve burgers any less than well done. You can get a monster half pound burger and a side for less than $10 AND they brought us a loaf of excellent warm bread.
