Up Y'oars,

I don't even necessarily blame Eide. From what I can tell, Ford offers some of its incentives by region based upon sales goals. If I remember correctly, it was an additional Ford incentive, not the dealer discount that made up the majority of the DL price difference a couple years ago. I have actually bought a couple other vehicles from Eide over the years at what I thought was a fair price.

As long as we are on the topic, who's giving the best finance rates right now? I do most everything through USBank and I know I can get under 3% right now but if that can be beat, I'm all over it.

Worked with a guy from Montana that moved to the Bismarck area and when he went to license his two vehicles in ND he had to pay the sales tax because Montana doesn't have a sales tax. He had owned both of these vehicles for years and both were paid for. Needless to say he was not a very happy camper but since the guy an arrogant dick I thought it was quite funny
this is probably a big reason why none of the out of state people working in western ND do as the law requires and get ND drivers licenses and plates.

maybe somebody mentioned this -- but the rebate thing was the hassle that I ran into. But I was unable to receive a rebate that was allowed in that portion of the country. Specifically an area of the country that was in a deep recession and the rebates were far better than here.

Other than that I have to comment on the posts above -- are you talking brand new vehicles?? $4750 and the $4500. I would love to see the quote paper work on the vehicle you could of purchased in town and compare it. I have never purchased from eide nor have I ever looked at vehicles at eide-- but in reality those pay the price on the window --can be higher --- but not that much higher. New car market isn't like boats they don't have that much room and if they do they would be out of business quickly as the majority of us shop. I have run into an invoice or two where somebody walked in to a dealership last day of month / last day of some manufacturer discount that they give the dealer and the guy got a hell of deal // to the point where the dealer didn't care he was just thinking of his service parts discount that he was going to receive. But that doesn't happen often especially in a time of which vehicles are selling.

You can do your homework and see what the invoice is --- the majority of holdbacks the whole nine yards. I would like to see Snow's comment if these were new.

Ford Chevy they offer incentives by region -- however they also count you as in this region. I don't believe the dealer nor you receive that incentive. You get the one for the region your in -- and the dealer gets his portion based on the region your in. Why because Ford doesn't want that dealer getting business from another region. Snow please explain dealership 101 on new vehicles.

If you really want to save money on a new rig right now look to the North, our dollar has been worth about$1.25 Just saved my coworker 12K on a new Tundra and they met him at the border. I know chevy won't sell you a new rig up there thou, unsure on ford.

Well, that's what it was with an outright buy between two Ford dealerships! I sat, flabbergasted, that one dealership could lower their prices that much AND deliver a vehicle up here. I don't know how Tenvoorde Ford was able to make it work.

Ended up finding out my salesman was originally from Rugby and graduated H.S. the same year as I and probably played on opposing yard lines of the old Class A North Star football back in the early eighties!! Small world...

Shorthairs,

Yes, these were brand new vehicles and I even took in a copy of the out the door quote from Eide and just said "beat this with an identically equipped F150", and gave her 3-4 color options to work with.

I know when it comes to Fords that there are a crapload of different options, accessories, etc all within the same Lariat model. So I went through the nuts and bolts looking for what was missing, there was nothing.

Allen has had the same experience as my father and I have had with Eide. Other places were significantly cheaper for the exact same deals.

Neither of us purchased the vehicles from Eide. This was approximately 5 years ago.

Some of you are well informed about car shopping 101...I'll say this, smaller dealerships are less likely to match or better the buy price of a like brand or better the price, they have over head to consider more so than the larger volume dealers, also rural area dealers payless in advertising per vehicle which is listed on the invoice but in turn will rec've less in quarterly dealer incentives, which some dealers gamble on achieving and pass the extra savings on to the buyer as a cheap sell, these are the dealers one would and should do business with, large volume sale dealerships offer better incentives, and recoupe low sales gross averages in parts, accessories, sevice and sometimes financing, these dealers want the whole enchilada including tradeins.Just a few thoughts.

New car financing rates are still low these days for folks with strong credit ratings,1.9% to 2.9% is a common range depending on term and cash down.
