As a horn hunter who puts that hunt above any other (except maybe hunting sparrows with the cats, my red ryder in the winter of the upstairs of the old horse barn) that picture is priceless.
American raping the deer in Canada. Getting a deer license is not like getting a fishing license in Canada and going to a lake up there.
Canada does protect its land wildlife from us Americans. License are few, they are expenses, many restrictions and no guarantees. Many have come back with no deer. Those guides will only show you an area with the rest up to you and a deer farm gets really expense up there.
With time and effort (and that does not mean just hunting) one can IMHO harvest the deer of his dream right in his back yard in the states with a better chance than what one will have by going to Canada. Yes there are the few but they are few. db

For those that did ask.
First off a few years ago two fathers with sons got together for the adventure of doing this. There was no consideration of selling what we found and that is as it is today. If it was for the monies you will go broke. It is for the memory one deposits in his memory bank.
First off you need to find where it is legal to pickup and bring across the line. Manitoba no. We are not allow to pickup body parts there and trust me, it is expenses if caught.
Need an import license from the feds in Denver.
Then you need a spot. There are 1000 of spots and ten of thousands of acres to walk.
We have walk public land, private and crowns land. We have walk just a few miles north of the line and walk way up north and in between.
We did have a Canadian contact who stated there is the yellow brick road and just follow it. We were green, on our own and began the walk. Each year we learn and our success went up 10 fold each year.
Horns have been found by the border, in the forest up north and in between.
But you need to visit with people up there. Made many of cold turkey calls both by phone and in person. There is no magical spot. I am not on face book but it appears that is a world where you can find contacts. Most people in Canada are great to visit with and will help you out.
You do not have to go way up to the tundra to find. Like I said have found just north of the border. But you need to find a contact to begin with. You need to find where deer have gather. And some of that is hit and miss. Many of walk with nothing and then a walk like going to a gold mine. Just call people in various places and in time you will also find that yellow brick road to begin your walk. thanks and good luck. db
