Trout guys are snobs. I'll give you that. Black Hills fly fishing guys are some of the snobbiest. They give you dirty looks when you sink a six pack in Rapid Creek to cool it down. Not my scene. That's why I stick to carp/bass/walleye/pike/musky

I think it has a lot to do with the piece of water you're fishing. You'll find plenty of PBR drinking, streamer chucking, 20 somethings listening to hip hop while floating down the Yellowstone or Madison. But on Depuys spring creek a couple miles away, its all cigar smoking, hedge fund managers from Manhattan that will all but slash your tires and snap your rods over their knee if you throw a nymph in the water below an indicator.

Fly fishing gets a rap as being an expensive, elitist sport, but its probably one of the cheapest forms of fishing even if you buy quality equipment.

My drift boat, waders and quiver of good rods still couldn't buy a 15 year old used Lund.

Very true. Living near Rock Creek right by the Lodge was a night and day different scene from the classy dudes on the Madison

3 Boats later, the old 202 zebco and bobber are still a lot of fun, at least you don't have put up with the assholes at the boat ramp, and most of them don't even own the dam sparkly boats

I have a very low end ranger in my garage. Directly behind it is a set of waders hanging on the wall. The complaining about what you have and don't have is getting old. I would love a big, sparkly windshield boat. It's not in the cards for a while...until I get my boy to ask mom for a bigger boat. Done deal. However, he will shore fish as well.

There are times when I can talk Dirty into wader-fishing with me, and we catch fish. Times when we catch fish casting off the rocks too. Also times when we catch fish in his "very low end" but "way nicer than my boat" Ranger.

I do not own any boat, but can see (some form of) jealousy from a mile away. Not always, but cripes is there a lot of gut wrenching pissing about sparkly boats on here. I get the whole back-to-basics and all. And I truthfully like the simplicity of standing in the water and casting, but holy man!..

I know a lot of guys with boats. And a lot of those boats are very nice boats. And I'd rather fish near most of them, than a lot of the angry drunks in plain-Jane boats..

You could always have this stupid problem.

You're obviously short in your truck inventory.

Oh, one more thing. I have fresh fish in the freezer again this past weekend, without the use of a boat.

Well, I bet they won't taste as good.....said dirtymike in a snobish, sparkly-boat-owners tone.

I'm kidding. Those looked like quality fish as well. Won't be hard to get me to try that again soon. I think I have my back duct taped enough to stand in current.

I'm not always angry.

I've done that this year already. You sure could have stopped in.
