I had to put down my 14 and a half year black lab buddy this morning. It was time and I feel good about the decision but man, that hurts.

Man,14 years was a good run,its never easy when the day comes,had one retriever that made it 15yrs,then 12yrs and 10yrs,last one was 18months,even then my heart was broke as we were bonded in that short time,today my boy is 5yrs and already dreading the day when its time.

Hopefully you have a young pup to ease the pain,it helps.

14 years what a great run with a good dog,That dog loved every minute with your family. The worse part is missing a friend, a true friend who was there for you all the time. This dog I have now is my forth and it is never taking lightly when a part of my family is gone. my deepest condolences to you and family. I don't know about all the dog owners on here but I'm amazed at the loyalty and unconditional love dogs have for humans.

I so sorry to hear that, all I can say is you and your family had a lot of time to spend with your Lab.

I also know the feeling of it's all about my buddy and it's time so he won't suffer and wow I want him to be here forever. It's a really tough choice but I think you know you made the right decision for him, you and your family.

I hope your Lab is busy playing with my Labs Brown, Chocks, Whammer and Lew along with a whole lot of great dogs from here.

Sorry for the loss of your friend and companion, It sucks to have to make that decision, but be assured you did the right thing (wish we could do the same for ourselves when our health and age becomes unbearable). We had to do the same 10 years ago to our 6 year old lad. I have put in many requests with the good Lord that when its Gunnar's time to go he will just pass in his sleep.
