My 2018 3.5 Ecoboost did the samething, it was the starter. I crawled under it and wife hit the key as I rapped on the starter. Worked great. I did replace the starter.
May have to pull the shields off the underside to check that out. Also wondering if a code reader would pick anything up even tho no service light on.

Wouldn't think it would be toast with 27k but who knows

Did this throw a code?
No it didn’t. So they didn’t have to tow it he had to put a jumper pack on it then jumped it with another shop pick up. The jumper kept it running to drive it down there a real pain. It’s a fuse that he has never replaced they had to order one as no on in town even carries. I thought that was going to end up costing a bunch but 100 dollars later good to go.

Are you getting any noise when trying to start it?

So you also jump started it after the battery was replaced?
Tried, it wouldn't do anything. I think it is starter + some. Went out and tried it this Am, nothing ( was actually kinda glad ). When opened door the horn beeped ,(shouldn't) when closed door horn beeped (shouldn't). It went down the road today for repair. Not sure I will ever have confidence with this electrical nightmare. 2nd winter with it after peddling my diesel because of fuel prices. $5.25 for #1 was the end of the rope.
Give me a "71" chev 4x4 and would be happy as hell !

100% the starter. There is a known issue with the positive lead on the starter/solenoid post that gets too hot over time and will cause such issues. Youtube starter issues and you will see, I replaced a few on mine. You can't hear it but it clicks just once, even with autostart.

Hope that helps but you have a bad starter and not from the mileage but age, common newer Ford starter issue.

I have seen when someone tries to jump another can pop that fuse too some are like $200 bucks vehicle acts dead replace that as you did all good. On chevys for instant their is big 10 x 10 black plastic cover that comes off with all fuse's look if one is blown those are u shaped ones. Seems like something is killing battery interior dome light left on or light on back outside of cab have issues. I can turn on my outside cab light on back of roof to see inbox in dark.

Those lights, unlike cars of the past, usually shut themselves off after 10-15 minutes.

Replaced the starter.(27k miles) They didn't find anything else that was setting off the horn or other security issues. 🤞 Picked it up yesterday and used today, so far so good and no unwanted alarms at this point. Gonna be a bit before I get my confidence with it again. Electrical crap sucks.

Lincoln, kinda...
Given the age of the vehicle, I assume no warranty was in effect. What was the total damage to the wallet?

When I had the starter replaced I got one yr warranty. 2 month later they were replacing it again. It was a rebuilt from Ford. It cost me nothing but time. They replaced it with a new Ford starter the 2nd time.
