Get the water to a rolling boil then add the egg. It'll over cook if you start it with the eggs already in.
And don't be embarrassed. I was a chef/cook for over 5 years. Im still learning things even now lol

Hard boiled I start with eggs in salted water. Turn burner on high and bring to a boil. As soon as water boils I turn off heat, cover and let sit for 11-12 minutes. Then dump off water put cold water and fill with ice to stop cooking process

Good way if you're doing them through up. I didnt learn about using salted water until I was like 20πŸ˜‚

Same, I add vinegar as well for easy peeling and take off hot burner.
