I've never noticed a positive difference smoking baked potatoes, but have only tried it once or twice...anyone have a better experience?

Same thoughts on the smoking

I prefer just slicing them about a half inch thick, olive oil, S&P, maybe a little of the seasoning you’re using on the meat. Throw them straight on a hot grill. Simple and I don’t know why they’re so good.

Jiffy: I like spuds on the grill too. I slice then 1/2 to 3/4" thick, put them in Zesty Italian Dressing for a 1 hour soak, then on a hot grill til quite brown, flip over to brown on other side.....using the leftover dressing to baiste them along the way on the grill.

No extra flavor in the potatoes but I didn’t have to run the oven. The meal plan was baked potatoes smothered in chicken queso.
