Permit brings controversial mega dairy closer to reality

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - A proposed mega dairy, which would quadruple the amount of cattle in the state, is one step closer to becoming reality.

The Department of Environmental Quality has approved a permit for Riverview Farms near Hillsboro, which is north of Fargo.

This would be one of two mega dairies the company is building, bringing an estimated 37,000 cows to eastern North Dakota in total.

The proposed mega-dairies drew controversy from environmental groups, but after considering public comments, the Department of Environmental Quality made the decision to issue a permit.

The agency says it will conduct regular inspections to address public concerns.

Thats a lot of :poop: heading to the Red river ...rofl...

“quadruple the amount of cattle”?

wut?
My guess is they are talking about dairy cows.

North Dakota's dairy cow population has significantly declined over the past few decades, falling from over 90,000 in 1980 to approximately 9,000 to 10,000 dairy cows as of mid-2024, with a similar number of farms. However, there are plans to significantly increase the number of dairy cows in the state, as a Minnesota company has announced plans to build two new large-scale dairy facilities in eastern North Dakota. These new facilities, if built, would quadruple the state's dairy cow population.

They bring big money , I was thinking about buying a few until I saw they were $ 600 a head . That's a big gamble but now beef is high dollar stuff too. If I remember right they are going to use a lot of beet pulp for feed .

Say there won't be any noise. Then say if there is noise they will build sound walls? I thought they said there wouldn't be any noise? One of these damn things by Williston causes so much noise residents have sued multiple times.

It's too bad money doesn't cause hard-ons, then the area mayors wouldn't need viagra.

“Since the facility will sit a mile southeast of the city, Hankey argued it would take a “southeast wind in order to have any sound carry” into Harwood.”

Even if wind carried sound like it does smells (it doesn’t), a southeast wind occurs every time a low pressure system approaches from the west.

What an absolute dipstick.

I thought internet searches were fine before AI. The more I learn as much as they try to tell us how much it will benefit us I fear in the end it mostly helps our Overlords who want to control our movements and restrict our freedoms with social credit scores to make us behave before we can access our money. I hope I'm wrong.
