Any of you ladies and gents use heated clothing? I've been kicking around the idea of buying a pair of those thermacell insoles for my boots because my feet are the first thing to get cold on me. Even with my 1200 gram danners they still get cold. Anyone have any experience with either the thermacells or any of the other heated socks out there? I see some of them are pretty fricken pricey ($300 a pair for some!).
I've also been looking at some of the heated hoodies and stuff but can't seem to find anything that would fit me. I'm a big dude. On top of that, I also can't bring myself to spend $150+ on a hoodie... I'm going to try a different route though. I found some heater kits on ebay that were cheap and operate off a 5v powerbank (usb power bank people use to charge phones etc...) and they have 5 heaters in them that can be mounted wherever a guy wants them in a hoodie... just requires a bit of sewing... I ordered 3 of the 5 element kits at $8 each... I guess I'll see how long they last. Gonna do a hoodie and a pair of pants to start I guess. If they work out ok, I'll have about $20 (cost of elements and a 50k mah power bank) and whatever the hoodie and pants cost into them.... I think that 50k mah power cell would run these heaters for at least 12 hours which is way more than I would need them to run for on a charge.
Anyways, If anyone has any reviews on gear, or suggestions on how to do this better, I'm all ears!
