I saw the same coyote off Interstate between the expressway exit and state street on the north side. It was chewing on a deer that was hit. I did a total double take when I saw the collar. THought it was pretty cool.

START RANT:

Man, I hate the people that drive down the hwy with their high beams on when they met oncoming traffic. I have astigmatism in my right eye and it's a real bitch driving when people do that. The newer vehicles make it even worse with the more powerful LED or the ultra bright white zeon headlights.
The DICKHEAD that did it to me last night almost made me hit the f@#$ing deer that was crossing the road because I couldn't see shit against the glare. THANK YOU YOU F@#$ING PRICK, the wife about pissed herself and my dog DID bounce off the back of my seat when I hit the breaks to miss the deer. I don't care if you can't see "good" (you whiny bitch!) passed 500 ft for the 45 seconds it takes to pass me, you have the courtesy of the new generation of the me,me,me it's all about me privileged brats driving on the road now days. WHICH IS NO F@#$ING COURTESY AT ALL! because it's all about you you you, you privileged prick! You, like them, forgot all about common driving courtesy as soon as you got your license to drive.

The other things you do that pisses me off while driving is you can at least drive the posted speed limit, driving 10 mph under the posted limit is all about you you you, you discourteous prick. If you want to text or talk on your phone without using hands free get off the road asshole, you are a hazard to everyone around you with your swerving all over the road and speeding up and slowing down. Don't say you don't either, YES you do, I'm usually the guy stuck behind you, you discourteous asshole. Try thinking about the other people on the road besides just yourself for once in your life.

RANT DONE:

On a lighter note; I DID see the big ass coyote (small wolf????) with the tracking collar cross the road in front of me on 83 by the ethanol plant in plenty of time. That was one big yote! I though about bouncing it off the bumper of the car for about 1 second then let it pass knowing that that collar could do some serious damage to a plastic bumper. Worse yet that the wife would have had a shit fit who was sitting in the passengers seat if I did, it being her car and all.
I wouldn't put it pass the game and fish to be importing wolves now that they have the mountain lions well established.

What I enjoy is catching up to an individual from a few miles back who forces me to speed to get around them.

Sorry Allen, (this may be the first time I've disagreed with you :() it may be law here but it's annoying, dangerous and bad driving etiquette. It's uncool to approach on-coming with high beams. It's distracting and creates dangerous glare. If your lows are aimed properly, you have plenty reactionary gap driving at legal highway speed. I wonder how many of these passing lane high beamers are also those refusing to run headlights in the rain?...Don't take these practices into other states or countries unless you want to make a goodly donation to the jurisdiction.

Ahh, I have no issue with intelligent discourse. None whatsoever.

I believe the point of it not being illegal to run high beams down the interstate and other 4 lane highways is that the State has engineered into their roadway what they think is an acceptable distance between two approaching vehicles that nullifies the effect of high beams. e.g., you are out of the path unless I am for whatever reason pointing my vehicle at the median. Like I noted, I dim when others are in the path of my lights on corners, hills, etc.

As far as the passing lane thingy, it's a common misperception. Our communistic neighbor to the east has rules in place that differ than ours. In particular, the left lane is for passing and you are supposed to be getting back into the right lane when an opportunity arises. Obviously, this is a bugger to enforce for them even though I try to follow the rules and customs of the roads I travel. The passing lane thing gets even more confusing once you get onto a 6 or 8 lane highway. But then you may be in the carpool lane.

In the event they needed a witness. Guys like that are going to kill someone.

I know a judge will throw out anything less than five mph over the speed limit so I feel safe at 79 mph, and I may push that another couple miles per hour, but that's it. I was doing at least 10 mph faster than the truck when that van come ripping up behind and pulled into me. No poking a!ong. Don't read in things that didn't happen. Breaking the speed limit doesn't make anyone cool, it makes them thoughtless and dangerous. If I am passing at 80 mph you don't need to be going faster.

I am confused by the highlighted part. So it's ok for you to set exceptions to the speed limit?

FWIW, I have the same issue as most on here in that you all would be thought of quite highly if you just drive like me. And no, I don't mean the ME of yesteryear, I mean at the moment we are on the same roadway. :::

What I also enjoy is the individual which catches me and prefers me to shut off cruise to allow them to go around. I'm not racing so get the eff around me please. If you want to do 90 in a 70 go for it: I ain't gonna call the cops. GO GO GO gtf away from me. I'll bump my speed a bit and use you as a decoy. German driving laws should be studied and implemented.

I hate those darn fog lights too. Seems like every other vehicle has them on all the time. I guess they think they are cool. Wish i had something that would shoot them out especially when they are following you.
Had a buddy that was followed by a vehicle and she had her fog lights on and wouldn't pass. He finally slowed way down and she passed then he followed her to a gas station where she stopped. He asked her why she doesn't shut her fog lights off and she told him she HAD to see. He said don't you think i have to see to drive too. She said she wasn't concerned about whether he could see or not. It is the ME GENERATION!

No I shouldn't do it either, but sometimes with a guy right on your bumper your trying to get out of the way. No matter how close they get I'm not going any faster than 5mph over the speed limit.

This ^^^

It should be mandatory that the older generation should have to take a driving/road aptitude test at a certain age.. Seen quite a few near misses on the road..

careful there perchless you will be the older generation quicker than you think.

I am 68 and use cruise so I don't go over the speed limit. My problem is passing a truck and I am already going the speed limit or a mile or two over. Then some guy rides my bumper trying to force me to go faster. If I am at the speed limit I am not going to break the speed limit to keep this jerk happy. One day I had this van pull up next to me at the rear of a truck. Next thing I know he is pulling right into me. Forced me to the shoulder while braking. I followed him and he was doing 87 mph. I called law enforcement. They set up a speed trap at Steel, ND. When I came along I stopped and gave the officer my identification as he was talking to them and informed them I was the guy they forced to the side of the road. Four guys in business suites in a minivan.

Edit: I will agree with those under the speed limit. I'll bet you have had this happen. Two trucks ten miles under the speed limit, one trying to pass the other. After maybe ten miles or more the guy passing gives up and drifts back. How bad did he really need to pass? If they can't pass in a coupe of miles how big a brain does it take to give it up? I suspect some of these guys think it's funny.

This is what you said earlier. This is why I responded. This statement makes it look like you WILL NOT go 80, but intend to stay in the passing lane as long as it takes GOING THE SPEED LIMIT.

Is it me or do these post contradict each other??

Since you said earlier, you won't pass unless the vehicle in front of you is going 5 mph under, and now you say your willing to go 80 mph, then. if you drive like your last few posts indicate, you should pass a truck/car rather fast, going 80.

Your right Rowdy. I guess I was trying to avoid explanations for so many different scenarios. Sorry about that. How can I put this hmm mm you know it kind of depends on your day too. I will admit I set my cruise on 76 to 77 often. If I am passing a truck doing 65 I will not push it further for the guy behind. If I am passing a truck doing 72 or 73 it doesn't take that long the guy behind can wait. If he is right on my bumper I will push it a little, but not to where I think it will get me a ticket. No one needs to go faster. I guess I set my cruise to a mile or two over because if I don't I feel like I am in so many people's way. My GPS does tell me my speedometer is 2 mph slow. Maybe that's why I fit into traffic flow better at 77 on my speedometer.

I drove my usual 190 miles down and back to the VA yesterday. I had a guy ride my ass for 15 miles while I was 10 over the speed limit. Another doing 80 on the freeway until we came up on a car or truck then he'd slow down to around 60-65 and just hang there. I have a solution for this but it's not acceptable.

So here's a new set of hi-beams, she is high speed low drag.
