I don’t mind the swamp creatures changing this law, better than spending 150 million dollars of tax payer money on a Library. A LIBRARY?!?! CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS EXCRETEMENT?How F-ing stupid. Bergum is as Swampy as they come.

Yea but there is money to burn in the legacy fund , Might as well burn it up before someone else does. :::

He also blew 4 million, yes MILLION remodeling the governors mansion that no one has lived in for the last twenty five years. They would have been better off tearing the damn thing down. This crap is really getting out of hand. Now they want raise the gas tax 7 cents per gallon. I mean how much of our money do these assholes need.

That dumbass Bergum said this library would be ND’s Mount Rushmore. A LIBRARY COMPARED TO MOUNT RUSHMORE?!? He’s gotta be In cahoots with some construction company’s or something. Talk about wasting tax payer money. I don’t give a rip who runs against that idiot next time I’m voting against that moron.

Are we talking the former Governor mansion? I hadn't heard anything about this...do you have a link? They did spend 4 million on the new Governors mansion, but that had nothing to do with Bergum.

You’re right. I just checked. He was the first one to spend a night there. It was the swamp creature before him that signed off on it. It just really bothers me that instead of giving relief to the people that are lining their pockets they spend like wild asses. That legacy fund and I believe there is another similar fund is a joke and hasn’t stopped the continual money grab. The wasteful spending is what pisses me off.

I'm not sure how much we should spend on a President's Library but do have to admit that when I visited Reagan's Library I was very impressed. Had no problem spending the better part of a day touring. Definitely something that would draw visitors. Whether it would draw enough to pay for itself I don't know. I do know that whenever I'm within visiting distance to another presidential library I will spend the time to visit. Well, other than Obama's perhaps. Read enough comic books in my life.

You are a better man than me Educator. If I were to spend a whole day in a library I’d most likely blow my brains out.

Sen. Scott Meyer brought up the seat belt law again Tuesday for a revote in the Senate and this time the bill passed 24-23.
The bill originally failed Monday 23-23, as 24 votes are needed to pass a bill.
Meyer talked about an incident in his life about 20 years ago, as he was driving down a gravel road.
“Something told me in the back of my head just buckle up you need that seatbelt on,” Meyer said. “And two minutes later I’m rolling across a ditch, rolled a few times and that seat belt saved my life gave me the opportunity to be here today.”
The bill would make not wearing a seat belt a primary offense, meaning law enforcement could pull a person over for not wearing a seat belt.
The bill will now move to the House.

Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library gaining momentum

During a 45-minute press conference, done while sitting on an exercise ball, Gov. Doug Burgum says the “leg work” he’s put in for a Theodore Roosevelt Library is starting to pay off.
Burgum says Rob and Melani Walton donated $5 million to the North Dakota Community Foundation, which could be used for initial startup costs for the library.
The governor wants to use $50 million from the Legacy Fund earnings, along with $100 million from private and federal sources to build the museum in Medora. The City of Medora, Dickinson State University, the Petroleum council and Congressman Kelly Armstrong all sent letters of support for the project. But Burgum says support isn't indefinite.
“I believe that the window for the donor dollars is narrow. I believe that the support from the Roosevelt family, which we have today, is not permanent because we have other states chasing them,” said Burgum.
Two other states have reached out to Theodore Roosevelt V, the great-great grandson of the former president, regarding a library, according to Burgum.

He added they're more than half way to their $100 million goal with the condition from donors the state chips in their $50 million.
Regarding the workforce issue, Burgum shrugged off the notion that Medora is a seasonal town, saying Glacier Park and Yellowstone are both seasonal. He says the facility will be open year-round, but he expects the majority of visitors to be in the summer months.
The North Dakota Petroleum Council supports the project and President Ron Ness, according to Burgum, said the project would attract visitors and retain families moving to western North Dakota.

Our tax dollars are being spent faster then they can raise them. ;:;banghead

So can I drink a beer while on the bike or horse? Also can the horse or the bike have a drink at the bar? I’m confused, can the bike get a dui if it’s drunk? How about the horse, is there horse jail? Inquiring minds want to know

I’d check out the library/museum in the winter. Medora in July is like visiting the surface of the sun. We get hot enough over here and I swear that place is always 10 degrees hotter.

Ya. We need more stupid laws. Helmet laws, seatbelt laws, drunk bicycle laws. Why would anyone care if ,someone is wearing a seatbelt or not. It’s just more nanny state bs. I don’t wear my seatbelt and I don’t wear a helmet. I’m still alive at almost 50 and if I die tomorrow in a car accident, does anyone really give two shits other than my family.

For the record, I never said riding a horse or bike shitfaced was innocent or should be without consequence. Just not the same as driving a motor vehicle. Definitely shouldn't affect your drivers license in my opinion.

Also, the library is a huge waste of taxpayer money. Even if not a dime of taxpayer money is used to build it, it would still be a yearly drain to keep the lights on and staffed. Boggles my mind they are even pondering 150 million on this.

Most likely not a better man at all. For most I don't think they realize all there is to see at these places. They are called Libraries when in reality they are more a history museum. All kinds of history in the Reagan Library from his time as a young man through the end of his life. Fascinating for me. They even had Air Force One in a building from Reagan's presidency. A new one was built for the next president. No, they don't build a new one every time there is a change in the office. Very interesting stuff, especially what he was like as a young man.

My point is that if a Library is built for Theodore Roosevelt, what better place to have it located than at the entrance of a National Park named after him. He is certainly a part of North Dakota History.

Also on the primary seat belt thing. My worry with that is it's too easy for law enforcement to use it as an excuse to stop even when it is being worn and then say "oops. I guess I was wrong. It looked like you weren't wearing one when I passed you. But, by the way, it sure smells like booze, blow, pot and hookers in here".

If they said oops and didn't write you up for a ticket wouldn't that be an illegal stop and anything resulting from that be thrown out of court?
