About a year ago some members were commenting about about the Iowa Steak truck but don't recall what their opinions were. I was wondering if the steaks were any good and what was their "Best deal" on a box of Steak?

I believe your concern is relative concerning animal preference and texture.

I prefer my steaks to come from a local butcher not frozen in a box out of a van.

Most cuts outta these traveling salesman meatwagons are a disgrace to the real availability out there. Don't waste your time or money.

I almost fell for the omaha steak truck thing last fall. I was in need of meat and didn't know any better. Then I seen the switcharoo happen right in front of me. Lady like the look of the steak and decided to buy a box. She opened it right there and compared what was in the box to the "sample." The majority of the line cleared out after that.

How about the no name steaks you can buy at Sam's club are they better quality than Iowa Steak? I like the prepared burger patties seems to me good.

I stand corrected, it was the Omaha steaks last fall he got not the Iowa. I raise my own beef so never look twice at the travelling sales promotions.

look at the labels, if they are marinated they are probably old cow with a marinade to tenderize them. If I ever get anything that has been marinated its cooked well done because if they marinate it under pressure it can push bacteria inside.

Omaha Steaks based out of Nebraska was a top of the line meat company when I lived in Nebraska about 15 years ago. I knew USDA inspectors that were at their facilities and never heard a bad comment. I do not remember them having trucks going door to door as they have stores and have a very major mail order business.

It is possible that the trucks were impostors trying to capitalize on the Omaha Steaks name.

The trucks (mostly out of Minnesota) that have stopped at my house trying to sell me product seem to get nervous when I tell them I used to be a meat inspector with the USDA.

You should turn your talents to Victoria's Secret. Wish I had to official creds.
