97 we had warnings out for people on snowmobiles to watch out for powerlines...... I think we're still a little bit short of that particular achievement!i agree with you guy --- 1997 we never had this high of drifts. I just shoveled my roof --- my sewer vent was covered (one of them) -- never in my life have i had to shovel the roof --the wind always blows it off.

No question 1 storm could change the whole thing in a big hurry. Take for instance that monster coming up our Direction right now Wednesday night into Thursday. Now if Bismarck were to suddenly get that storm like the area Southwest of Pierre is set to get that would instantly make the drifts at least probably on par with comparable to 97 since they're talking 20 + inches of snow and winds over 60. This year has just been completely weird in the fact that up until this last storm we really haven't even had a storm it's just these little 2 to 3 inch drops that just start to add up over time. Adeno temps high enough to melt anything and not only do you get a fair bit of snow in your yard but you get people that are starting to get a little bit grumpy at the snow in the yard. I myself am extremely curious to see how this next storm works out because even four or five inches of snow with 50 mile an hour winds with this much snow already on the ground is going to blow around like a son of a b**** and it's going to be far more impactful than it would normally be if we didn't have so much snow already here. Not close to 97 yet, although if we had a comparable early April blizzard it would get very dicey. Can remember we still had 3-4 foot drifts in our yard when we had to evacuate GF and that was April 18 or 19.
This is about as close to 1997 as short is to sober.
So a quick serious question regarding this Wed/Thu storm track. My daughter and grandson are driving up here from Omaha Thursday...they were planning to leave early Thursday morning, but the timing of this thing looks bad for the I29/I94 route on Thursday...maybe they should wait to hit the road until Friday?
