Allen- any idea on the age of that bull? Young, old?

I am surely not an expert, but I'd guess he is 3.5 at least, and probably 4.5 yrs old. Just a solid bull for ND, but I know of several others that have a much larger rack.

From the FWIW dept, when you draw a moose tag in ND, don't under-estimate the size of these critters. I planned ahead and had a shit-load of ratchet straps, along with a boat winch mounted on the trailer to get this bad boy loaded. Come prepared for the worst.

Funny you say that, had a buddy many yrs ago elk hunting in Colorado. Was up close to top and downed his elk. Well he forgot his knife and ended up gutting it with a stick. I couldn't even image what that looked like
They went back up the next day to retrieve.

I had planned for filling my tag while being alone, but in this case I shot the moose while alone and then drove back to my parents' place where I wasn't given much choice in who the retrieval party included.

Here are those who came to help:
My 86 yr old stepdad who is hard of hearing and near blind.
My 74 yr old brother-in-law who has heart problems, but I called him for another set of hands.

And for the cherry on top, my 32 yr old niece.

note: We had to evacuate my stepdad a few minutes before the moose was loaded as he thought he was having a heart attack. Thankfully, he checked out fine later on at the hospital.

I am far from a muzzleloader expert, but I have read of people using 2 round balls. Some of the threads on other forums have suggested deformation of the balls produced some accuracy problems at distance. So, I have never even tried it. 3 inch grouping at 100 yds is pretty darn good. Was there a big difference between single and double ball loads in point of impact for you?
