This thinking is exactly how and why we are in such a mess. Comparing free school lunches with waste speaks volumes. Then standing on that hill proudly.........you can't make this up.
when my kids were in elementary school I used to go eat with them a few times a month, I bet at least half of the food served goes directly into the garbage. It always amazed me how much food those kids throw away... often full trays that were entirely untouched would be dumped in the garbage.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree, with all other waste out there free school lunches for school age children is a weird hill to die on.
Again, I don't even know how to respond to this. So the waste, fraud, and all the other baggage that will come with this is free lunch fiasco is acceptable because the waste, fraud, and other tax payer rip offs from public education or other areas of local and state govenment are even worse? That is a very weird hill to die on indeed.

The problem is all the other hills we the people attempted to defend we died on when it comes to public education and government waste and fraud, or tax cuts, so we have taken the approach to defend every hill we can.

The "free" stuff never ends, and neither does the tax increases to keep pumping money into it, but let me guess, its for the kids so it must be good. It a rip off, we should not fund free anything for people who can afford a breakfast and lunch. Again, please make a valid argument why we should give free breakfast and lunch to families that can afford to pay for it. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!

If we don't eliminate property taxes the next time that comes up for a vote then I guess we have been conquered as a people and are just a bunch of socialists. I cant wait until I finally can get me some "free" stuff!

How about we reallocate the existing funds the schools have and use it for "free" breakfast and lunch?
The 9 million dollar expansion of the Lincoln school east of Bismarck was paid for with "leftover" covid funds, must be plenty of slush fund money for free food for everyone?
