How are we supposed to practice our running shots if we cant blow the hell out of a coyote with our deer rifles
I've never understood why party hinting is illegal. I know it is done in ND. If everyone in the party agrees to it I say go ahead. I know that no one will be shooting mine.
interesting challenge for wardens - can anyone suggest a way to make it easier to enforce/prevent party hunting?
Now that they can shoot a deer at the age of 11, I don't think I need to worry about that scenario. However, I am quite sure that happens (happened) often and I am not as opposed to that scenario as I am to Joe Shmoe that I just happen to be in the field with thinking he has the green light to shoot at anything brown because I will let him fill my tag.
I think it's mainly because of the lottery system. There's already enough "Aunt Ethel" tags being filled by other family members the way it is.

To actually "party hunt", everyone in the "party" must be on the same page or what you are describing is simply an asshole hunting with you.
as I said, how much say does a kid have when it is a parent or uncle doing the shooting of the kid's tag?
I have shot an elderly relatives deer for them who hunted with us for years but could no longer walk or even see well to shoot but rode in the pick up with us opening weekend. He was retired Navy living on a fixed income. We processed his deer for him and enjoyed the time and stories and memories.
Should I be fined for that?
How many years ago was this? Did he have a buck tag? Did he even plan to try to shoot one? He could have rode along and enjoyed the time and stories and memories without having a tag that you were going to fill for him.
If he didn't plan on shooting the deer at all and you just put in for a tag for you to fill for him... then yes, you should be fined for it and maybe lose your hunting privileges for a year. You received 2 buck tags that year and someone did not draw a tag because of it. BTW, I would have less of a problem if it was a doe that was shot for him... if he was only wanting the meat.

If the tag is given out by the G&F do they not want them filled?
I've never heard of something so dumb. Nothing like accusing good people of illegal activity for no reason. Since there is NO reasonable explanation for carrying a rifle while others deer hunt. Give me a break. GnF is really on a role with taking away opportunities to make their jobs easier. Combine this with caving to SOCIAL pressure for one tag deer system and they are a bunch of winners.
Like caliber matters? Come'on.
The problem is that if my wife (and kids, and aunt, and father, ect... get the point?) didn't hunt, I could put her/them in for tags... take her/them for a ride-along and shoot her/their deer. That would lower everybody's chances of drawing tags.

I say leave the law the way it is, but stiffen the fines for party hunting big game. I honestly don't know anybody that lets others shoot their deer for them these days, but i'm sure it does happen. The biggest issue are people applying for tags for every member of their family and then shooting all their deer for them, that i do have an issue with and should be heavily fined.
