Open water?

Was in the valley city area Saturday. Most of the bigger bodies of water were mostly frozen (and white) yet but many of the smaller stuff had quite a bit of open water, if not totally open. Island lake along the interstate looked completely open which I thought was a little odd just since most of the bodies similar in size maybe had a little water around the edges open. Guessing it will change a lot this week though.

Crystal springs by medina is opening up. Closesr part to the interstate was ice but north part was pretty close to open.

what a difference from northern to middle ND , we are still driving out on 27'' of ice up here.

I am not even sure how they got on the ice..from what i could tell there was a good 50 feet of water on the edges.

I went fishing this afternoon and drove around finger drifts and a skim of water on top of 28'' of ice. There was maybe 1 or 2 inches of open water between shore and the ice. What a difference in climate just a few miles out of the hills.

My inlaws have a cabin on a little lake southeast of bottineau. They said most of the road is still snowed in and the lake doesn't look close to opening. I was pretty excited to put a beating on pike. guess i'll chop wood instead.

Flew over the lake Monday. Minot to Hazen to Newtown. Still alot of ice out there. Shorelines are slowly opening up compared to last week.

East end is still pretty locked up as of this morning. The world view sat image above makes it look like its mostly open. Ice in Garrison Bay looks like it could go anytime. Was hoping the edges would be more open so a guy could toss a smelt out, maybe after today.........might be on the agenda for tomorrow with any luck!
