Yep, same here. Also pick it up a few times as it is filling. Allen the company that I get propane from just rebuilt my hose and valve so I don't thing its illegal. However I will keep my eyes open for the Propane Police.:gotone:

I have not filled my 20 or 30 lb tanks from my large one but I do refill all of my one lb cylinders from my 20 lb tanks and it works great make sure the small one lb cylinders are cold and the large 20 lb tank is warm when doing it.

Looking for some more pros and cons to buying a tank vs. leasing. I found a used tank that I can buy right now, but I can't decide whether to buy or lease.

I can lease a tank from MVP for $1 or $9 a month depending on the program that I choose (platinum or bronze). Both programs include all maintenance and routine inspections at no cost to the homeowner, along with a few other useless "perks" (some free car washes, etc.). I'll still be required to fill through them, but I was told that they will match any competitors price.

Has anyone had issues with a tank that required an expensive repair? It seems like the "free" repairs are the only real perk to leasing a tank.

I did a 10 year lease to own on a used 1000 gallon tank from cenex years ago, lease was no cost just a yearly payment interest free for the tank as long as you filled with them the duration of the lease and all repairs were covered as well.
I have heard of guys having relief valves or fittings fail at the tank and lose full tanks of gas, very rare but would be worth a few bucks a year if they cover things like that.
Really not much to go wrong with them, one of my 2 thousand gallon tanks is 40+ years old and I had cenex inspect it and all was good, replaced the gauge was it because it was sticking.

Yeah just paid my bill from this years summer fill from cenex in Bis/man @ .79 too. They did not do the extra 5% discount for paying the bill right away this year either.
I have heard of other places @ .69 as well.;:;banghead

Oh well wasn't but a few years ago when it was close to 4 bucks. This is the cheapest I have paid in over 10 years.

Just called Ferrell Gas to get filled up, granted its only a 250 gal for my shop, but told them I ran the tank empty last winter and turned my electric on, so its probably at zero. Lady said we need to do a $75 leak test, I asked her if they come and pick the tank up or the other company that Ill be going with can deliver it to them.....Then she said we can go to .89 cents a gal if I stayed... Wasn't happy. Ill be calling around Minot today for propane...

Right now $.89 is pretty good. Market is going up daily on propane right now. If you haven't filled yet I would get it done right away
cheapest gas I have seen this summer was over a month ago. As the dealers have to refill thier bulk tanks they are paying more which means the end user will be paying more soon. Get in on the summer Fill deal before they are gone

Farrell Gas is like dealing with a band of Gypsies. I called another company and had them install there tank and put Farrell's next to the road. I then walked into Farrell Gas office and told them to come pick up their tank and to not even think about charging my a pick up/disconnection fee.

Ferrell gas tried to screw me a couple of years ago. Bought my own 1000 from Cenex and they installed the filler valve for 20 pounders.

I do need some for the propane fireplace in the basement, but you guys are making me feel good. Propane would have to get down to .55 to compare to my electric off peak.

I had my deferred billing summer fill done end of May through Cenex Bis/Man. Everything I have been seeing and hearing says prices for propane are going to be spiking as time goes on this year as well.

Thanks for reminding me of the horrible customer service I went through years ago with Ferrell gas. The "devil" spot on

I have had Ferrell since 2010 and can say I haven't had any issues. Maybe I am just lucky? Filled up a few weeks ago for .99 I think.
