IMO, If you want a project, program, policy, etc.... royally f'd up.. just get local, state, or fed government involved and you won't be disappointed. City of Bismarck seems to need to do a project 3 or more times (Expressway & Washington St) to get it partially right, Burleigh County apparently does not have anyone providing oversight on investments, ND can't provide enough corp welfare, and fed policies speak for themselves resulting in a $36T and climbing national debt.
Cheers!!

Just looked at my property tax statement, it's down $424.46 from last year. Sweet!

And, so long as I pay it by Feb 18th, I can take another $138.85 off the total.

Yes. I see it as a line item for $500 on my statement. Bad news is the locals just raised my taxes by $530 since they knew the state was kicking in $500.
Mine too, but we as a city voted in a significant property tax raise for a high school remodel.

The "true and full value" on mine has gone up as well, roughly $27k year over year.

However, one of the interesting things in my tax statement over the last few years is in the Mill Levy. It went from 154.210, to 147.000, to 138.623 from 2022 to 2024, respectively.

Does your county\city do things like this?

Ward County files civil suit against Project BEE over ARPA funds

MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – Ward County is seeking more than $1.3 million in damages from Project BEE, a shelter in Minot, claiming the shelter received double funding for work on the Broadway Circle Project, according to a civil suit filed last week.

In the complaint dated Dec. 4, the attorney representing Ward County said the county approved reimbursements to Project BEE of $1,345,756 under an agreement through the American Rescue Plan Act to go towards the completion of the Broadway Circle project.

Broadway Circle is a family shelter and affordable housing project nearing completion that Project BEE had been overseeing before its financial issues.

The attorney said an audit revealed Project BEE received assistance for the same expenses from the city of Minot, prior to receiving funds from the county. The attorney said ARPA prohibits duplicate benefits.

The complaint indicates a non-compliance letter was sent to Project BEE in late October, demanding repayment for ineligible expenses.

Last December, Project BEE abruptly closed amid an investigation into its finances before reopening at the turn of the year. In August, Project BEE announced it would not be opening its warming shelter this year but would continue other services such as its diaper pantry.

Your News Leader reached out to Project BEE for comment.

In February, the city of Minot took over the completion of the Broadway Circle project from Project BEE. Although the city is not involved in the litigation, we reached out to a spokesperson for the city for comment.

The city of Minot is currently looking for someone to buy the homeless shelter and rely on donations (its nonprofit and you can't charge rent) to keep it funded and open.

Goole Broadway Circle for the complete story behind this project.

Apparently, the city didn't learn a lesson after the 2 parking garages and other things.

I wanted to share the Tax Credit for 2025 and I am passing it along to you all.

If you just go to WWW.tax.nd.gov/prc? It will come up and there is a button that you can apply, it is now open.
If you successfully applied last year, they saved your info and it takes LITERALLY 90 seconds to complete. Thanks Juan!

Mine is probably for more bike paths, curbing turn lanes, blue lights, ”downtown” improvements, replacing perfectly good handicap crosswalks, new garbage trucks (with reduced services), gymnasium updates (ie education), and other important things.

I don't think my property taxes have gone up $900 in Bismarck over the last ten years.
In the last 5 years in Bismarck, my out of pocket property taxes have gone up $842 but my actual taxes (before state offset) has gone up $1700. And our house is nothing fancy. There were 2 years with 10% increases.
I don’t assume that state offset is guaranteed forever. Something needs to be done to slow the increases.
